Around 1990 I saw them headline a NYE bill in Northern Canada. This song had just come out. I was on mushrooms, turned my head and Greg Keelor was standing beside me taking in one of the other bands. I said 'Hi, I love your band, sorry but I'm on mushrooms', he laughed and said 'Me too!'. We had a little chat, I told him Diamond Mine was my favourite song of the year, we each went back to our trips. A couple of hours later when Blue Rodeo hit the stage, Greg said 'Hey mushroom boy, this one's for you!' and they launched into this. One of my best concert moments ever!

Another Canadian band, my friend did backup singing on one of their albums. They are playing here in Vancouver on Monday😂🇨🇦❤️ I think the vocals on this sound more like Elvis Costello. You should try one of his songs.

Yeah, this guy, Greg, sings the moodier, tougher tunes. His voice is tougher and rougher. Jim sings the poppier tunes and the ballads. He has more of the classic crooner's voice.

Diamond Mine is even better when played live, as it's usually an epic 'extended' version. 6 years ago, Blue Rodeo (and The Sadies) invited Gord Downie to come on stage to help them sing 'Lost Together' just before Gord passed away.
