@@lurchdevahl4117 that's true, good to hear that some people still are willing to support their favorite artists. Just let me give you an advice: Amazon is really exploiting the artists. Whenever you can, buy music/books and other stuff in a more directly way (like from Stahlis website or the label/publisher etc.). Most artists just release their stuff on Amazon because its "expected" from most people, but Amazon is taking an huge amount of the money.. just a kind advice

Blue Stahli was some of the first music I found when really getting into music, so many years ago, and I loved the sound immediately. It's been a while since Lakes Of Flame released, and in that time, my music taste has shifted quite a lot to being even heavier. I had begun to worry that I may not be able to connect with the eventual newer music in the same way I did back then, years ago. It brings me so much happiness that not only would the return be so triumphant, but that any fears I had were immediately put to rest. This trilogy has been incredible, and that means so much to me.
@bluestahli
@bluestahli 3 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad that this trilogy resonated with you, especially after you say you've preferred heavier stuff. I always maintain that people looking for "all heavy all the time" or even "all vocals all the time" just will not like what I do, so it's greatly appreciated that you found this action during your time of discovering what you like, and wound up liking it again. Thank you!

Once, a long time ago I saw a parked UPS truck downtown and the person driving the truck had gone inside a store probably to deliver a package. The music was playing from inside the truck and it was some rock song I didn't recognize, so I figured I'd just wait a little bit and see if I could ask this person what song it was. Somewhat unfortunately, the song changed, but it began playing a very familiar song, ULTRAnumb. I was super blown away that some random UPS driver I had never met listened to the same music I did. While I wasn't looking the driver had gotten into the truck. I waved at them and just called out "I really like your music taste!", she waved back and drove away. Was super surprising to see someone else listened to this music, and I'm really glad it's still going

Wow... just wow... Went off the grid from social media and really got off the loop... Just today wearing your Ultra-Numb shirt I wondered "Whatever happened to Bret?" Turns out it was more of a "whatever happened to me?" that I haven´t discovered this trilogy earlier... Just wen to amazon and bought the 3 albums, blasting my brains away right now with Quartz.... Congratulations man, I´ve been a fan since the first Anti-sleep, even before the release of the self titled album (What a masterpiece) and I just gotta say you're consistent with your style as hell, but always taking a new approach... I really appreciate all the effort and work that goes into this type of music as well, your material is always fire!! I always wear my semi-worn out shirt with pride since it's a great T, but today I wear it even more proudly, again, CONGRATULATIONS, you always outdo yourself. Greetings from Spain!

I really love the shift to a more darker, ambient kind of setting. Especially in the song Gravity and Pgornosis, two absolute incredible songs. It's amazing how he is keeping it kinda calm and soothing, while going very heavy (not too fast / aggressive but rather "mildly" heavy) The guitar tuning is almost Deathcore tier tuning... I would call this one of the best modern Progressive Metal album of the year.

Absolutely delicious. I don't know how he does it - fusing genres to such magnificent effect. Not to mention the fact that he's released three albums in less than a year, during one of the most nightmarish times in recent memory. The dude's seriously a machine. This thing is incredible from beginning to end, but I especially adore the beat in The Mountain, and the sludgy intro to Catastrophe was an instant delight. (Plus, that transition from The Mountain to Nothing Ever Stays?? Taking me from headbanging to tears of awe in 2 seconds....) My favorite has to be Prognosis, though - I'm hearing a lot of callbacks to previous songs, especially the riff from Enemy (one of my all time favorites) which he then mutates and builds on so brilliantly. Definitely showing off how he's evolved as an artist over time. Fucking spectacular.

Blue stahli at this point feels like an artist who doesn't even define a genre anymore. I feel like over the past years I have listened to blue's content, it have evolved into it's own animal with its own characteristics. This is more of a deep dive into a creative mind, less then music. Then again, not everybody has the talent of blue stahli. -Oli

Do you like Amon Tobin? I think of his music much the same (except I don't like his current direction)

Thank you so much, Bret. You have turned a challenging season of your life (to say the least) into some fine art. I absolutely love this chapter of the album trilogy and it will likely remain my favorite for 2021.

This was a beautiful album. Deeply expressive and connective. The style changes from song to song, but it flows expertly. I had unbidden chills during the last few tracks. Thanks for making this!

Complete banger of an album. I love the sprinkling of slower tracks. The emotion in both Quartz and Obsidian is so strongly felt, whether it's melancholy or rage, it's so damn good. Totally worth the wait!

I haven't made any music in about two years now... but now I want to go back to my shadow work mindset hearing these heavy atmospheric creations. Not a lot of artists can bring that side of me back out but man, this album is really giving me an inch to make some heavy tracks lol. As always, these are fantastic works.

I absolutely love the variety in this album. Most artists pump one a full album that sounds like the same song . x.x

I am amazed and love the transition between the "episodes" of the deadchannel trilogy, and your whole evolution from The Devil. Really enjoy the new sound, didn't ever hear such combination before, not only from you but from any other artist. Stay healthy, and create what you want and how you want.

Been a fan for almost a decade, and it's impressive how much you've grown as a music writer. And I don't just mean lyrically, I mean orchestrally. The writing in this trilogy contains some of your best work. Best glitches, best riffs, best overall compositions. Actually super impressive. Most artists don't show this much improvement. Hopefully covid stops soon, would love hearing live renditions! Especially if you ahem came to Toronto ahermmm. You could easily tour for like 2 years straight with the amount of content you've released! Thanks for making the past year less sucky.
