Blue Streak front seat on-ride HD POV @60fps Conneaut Lake Park

This classic wooden out and back wooden coaster opened in 1938, but has seen some lengthy down time when it was SBNO (standing but not operating) from 1995-1996 and 2007-2010. This has largely been due to the park financial woes, but don't let the condition of the coaster fool you - it's a great ride filled with bouncy air time.

The most insane back-seat ride on the planet. There is no equal to the ejector seat air at the top of the first drop with just a buzz bar that doesn't feel like it's gonna hold you in at all. Your life will flash before your eyes in a good, thrilling way :-)

I maintained the Blue Streak in the 70s. This video captures well the push into the lift chain that I considered a feature of the front seat. I watched the video at .25 speed. Overall the tops of the rails are in good shape. The joints were very tight and the only major warpage was going into the Big Curve, but that was expected even back then. The ties are junk wood though. 1:52 The Switchback is in horrible shape, The left rail is worn to near nothing for about six feet at the rust spot. 1:54 More severe wear from the back car pulling the front car down into the track at the peak. That sucking force into the peak was what kept the front car from jumping the track. The Switchback was always a headache to keep safe. It was also as fun as the big hill. 2:07 The train station is to the left. Since I inspected the Blue Streak track, I had my choice of ride to operate. I always chose the train. I watched again at normal speed but with my subwoofer cranked, and except for the dropouts in the Switchback, that track still had every bump as I remember it. (:

I have to say that the old girl still has it. I am hoping that Conneaut hangs in there and people can help out to get this coaster properly restored. From when I last seen it at around 2012, it looks like they are trying to fix the coaster up. While the coaster looks scary and I mean not in a good way scary, it seems to still have it's speed and the cars are not complaining in the turns as it did a few years ago. I just looked up Conneaut's new website and I love it. They beautifully showcase all of their classic rides and hope this does mean things are looking up for this great park. I been keeping an eye out for it for the past few years and I was really scared for its future. I do hope people wake up and realize that the small parks need everyone's help too. Lately with the outrageous prices that the huge theme park firms are charging it is hard to find affordable family fun any more. Please...help out your local parks and if you are near Conneaut...help them out. Blue Streak is truly a classic and I sure would hate to see that it disappears. I seen it too often at how many of our classic American parks are now gone: Idora, Lincoln Park, Chippewa Lake, Joyland, Whalom Park, Williams Grove, Americana and the many that I have left out. All of them taking their classic rides and coasters with them.

I'm quite certain that when we rode this a few years ago after it reopened, it was missing some of the steel road wheel plates in sections and riding directly on the wood. Still a great ride. :)

I took a Gopro video of the ride just the other day and I was told I was not allowed to record because of the man that was prosecuted for ridiculing the ride. I recorded anyhow and since last year, the ride is MUCH faster and smoother. It is a bit jerky at a couple of spots. However, it is still VERY fun with the speed improvement. I think they may have even made the hills steeper. When going down them I was being lifted out of my seat and if not for the safety handle lol, I may have been gone.

If the lift hill was another 5 - 10ft higher then it would have amazing airtime over the hills. Hope all the track can be replaced along with adding dry ice or lights in the tunnel.
