I myself am a glider pilot in Germany. I learned to glide in a student club similar to the one in the movie. There are very similar ones in Germany. I am just mind blown by the level of detail and accuracy in the movie. In most movies and series they don't even get the instruments in the airplane right. But here everything is right. From the painting of the training airplane to the locking mechanism of the canopy or the charging cabinets for the lead batteries. Or the commands for the winch launch. Or how they push the airplanes backwards because it's easier to grip that way. I could go on forever here. I also loved the cultural differences that I noticed when comparing gliding in Japan vs. Germany. For example, we don't wear the same overalls but everyday clothes. Or for people that do their first solo flight, we do not clap they get clapped. And the competition is not taken so personally. You also fly the competition without an instructor in the back. What I did notice that was inconsistent was that in Germany you normally wear a parachute in the airplane. They only did that here in the Discus and not in the ASK 21. But that could also be a cultural difference. Or our airplanes still have a separate woolen thread attached to the back of the canopy for the flight instructor. Nevertheless, I would like to point out once again how true to detail everything in the movie is. Especially the Sinsheim airfield at the end of the movie, which not only looks exactly the same, but also has exactly the same red and white tow plane with exactly the same registration D-EAFN. Holy Moly!!!

The level of detail and accuracy is just one of the things about Anime that makes it the greatest media ever created. I could go on and on about what makes Anime so incredible. But I won't, because words are just words and true Anime can't be summed up in them alone. It is something that must be experienced first hand to truly understand and know. However, I have surmised or come up with a great way to describe it. And that is, Anime is unlimited, unrestricted fiction created by unrelenting perfectionists. If you decide to really get into Anime. It'll take a little while, but when you begin to feel what your watching is inviting you in. That's the moment your understanding of Anime will begin to expand. Possibility becomes part reality. You will notice, it's like this right now a part your imagination is sealed, locked up. Its what keeps people from going beyond their limits. Anime unlocks the part imagination, that hinders people from going beyond their limits, which is how it has always been meant to be. Again, describing Anime is difficult at best. The starting point is insanely important. From 2003 to 2008 is when Anime was at it's peak of brilliance. Before then there's dozens of shows, OVA's and movies that are equally incredible. Its about finding your favorite type(s). There's plenty of every genre, enough that you won't run out of Anime to watch. From 2008 on... the easiest way to put it is, we(fans) began noticing western influence had creeped in(Corporate America). They forced their way in, its long explanation, so here's a really short version. In 2007 6 of 8 Anime export/import companies in America filed bankruptcy, all on the same day. The 2 remaining, one was owned by Universal Pictures Studio. They purchased funimation in 2005. (long version goes here). In 2017 after 10 years of planning, spending ludicrous amounts of money, buying complacency(mostly Manga writers) and only using power when possible to get their way. Corporate America succeeded in gaining control of the Anime industry by having Sony Pictures Intl.UK purchase funimation. Quality began to decline even faster than before. They chopped budgets in half for starters, destroyed continuity, pissed on originality etc etc. The movie industry is just as old as the TV industry, but has far more experience in how to get what they want. Research shows they own so much of sales and production, its a monopoly. And yet the government of the U.S. has done nothing. Just about every Anime ever made can be found on the internet. And for free, From Crunchy Roll to public forums, websites, Discord, file hosts, News.Org hosts. Its all out there a search engine away. (Nyaa.si & Animetosho.org). Enjoy expanding your imagination and evolve.
Movies like these teach us deep life lessons and real values through simple animations. It's amazing how they touch our hearts and leave a lasting impact.

I flew gliders in Japan for 6 months back in the 1990's and had a great time at Sekiyado gliding field. The university club were really helpful getting me solo... I even made some short cross-country flights in their K23. Great people.

As a German, i knew that we have a big glider-club culture here, never knew Japan was into it, too... Also, the German speaking was obviously done by Japanese people with really strong accents, but they were all, more or less, correct... Impressive! Loved the movie, really pulled at my strings...

I really had no idea how massive gliding is in Germany. I knew it was big, but given that 2/3 of the worlds GA owned aircraft are in America, I thought gliders would also reflect that. Nope, half of all the world’s glider pilots are in Germany, which is astonishing.

@@Sleeping_Insomiac Unfortunately, history is not what we hope to find, it is what is it. I remember flying lessons 😊 The most beautiful feeling was looking ahead airborne at the horizon. It took my breath away that very first time. The beauty of the world is in the small minor details we humans take for granted. The world is a very beautiful place, life is special and nature mother earth completes it. Subhanallah. Gratitude for every moment I live in, where I live. Tomorrow's world will be a very different place. Sadly.

Story seems rushed in few places, and the melodrama isn't my cup of tea when there's more and more just pilling up, but that happens when they try to squeeze almost entire comic series into one film. Despite that, enjoyed the show. Been long since last time I have sat trough entire movie in one sitting, and multiple times caught myself with almost painfully wide smile.
I loved this! While the theory was light, it was also accurate for what was portrayed. The interpersonal relationships were fairly well played out as well. While the glider type was different from mine, the competitions are very similar. Nicely done!

Really? In Germany when you take off someone holds the wings on level and there are hand-signals between wingholder and towing guys.
@skizzoflyАй бұрын
@@sputzelein Here in ITALY, we do thumbs UP, the guy at the wing levels it, and THEN and only THEN, I , the PIC will call the tow telling him that i am ready for departure. He the tow pilot will then notify departure to the tower (we have a AFIS in Rieti) , and when all is ok, then the tow pilot says i-abcd takesoff. This to say that the guy at the wing has no authority for the takeoff, it's the glider's PIC that notifies the readiness. In msfs i see instead the wing guy making strange signals to the tow/winch operator.

I was lost in this piece from beginning to end! I noticed that some scenes, like at 1:06:35 look like photographic backgrounds with superimposed anime. How is this done? Very effective in giving a sense of reality.

I loved this! it was my first ever anime. I am a former paraglider pilot, and have just one sailplane ride as a passenger to my credit. I am also studying Japanese, and just returned from 2 weeks of cycling in Hoikkaido. I really learned a lot about how kids talk among themselves in Japanese...and that there are words like baca--"stupid" "fool" that I would never use in Japanese myself.
Movie was fine,I enjoyed it although some parts felt too long and others too fast pretty good representation of gliders, the pace is really fast thought, it isn’t realistic for someone who has never flown before to win a competition in a discus in a few weeks,still enjoyed watching it,anime about aviation are rare,even more those about gliders (Also..they’re a tad dramatic about dry thermals..they’re not that surprising or hard to exploit)
