The civil war, I remember it well!!! As a clumsy Confederate soldier, known as "Tripwire" Doug, I had an unfortunate habit of accidentally setting off my own army's booby traps. During a tense standoff with Union forces, I was tasked with checking a newly-laid minefield, only to stumble headfirst into a hidden pit, causing a small explosion that sent my hat flying into enemy lines. The Union soldiers, initially startled, burst into laughter at the sight of the hat, causing a brief moment of lighthearted truce as both sides watched me sheepishly retrieve my headwear, much to the chagrin of my commanding officer. I’ve had this Burr Oak leg ever since.

Awesome job Richard! You got a better saw in a more timely manner in my honest opinion from what I see!

Portsmouth Naval shipyard still has logs in its pond that were cut to build and repair Old Iron Sides.. any repairs done on it have to be done with period correct tools and wood.

If you move to New England cut some Wide Sugar maple/Rock maple slabs and THEN you’ll have cut some of the most beautiful wood. Especially if it has tap holes in it. Rock maple is stunning when finished.

You could probably fetch some nice coin$$$ for the slabs you don’t use on marketplace.

how long is that Chinese saw gonna last? My ground guy wants one of these. I’d rather buy him a good saw for $1,500 than watch him tinker with that on the ground when stuff starts going bad.

I would say there hit or miss. I’ve got one blue saw 466 that was great until the cylinder came loose. Still runs just lost some compression. The other saw a 444 has been trouble free. I just make sure I never use the chain brake cause the one on the 466 broke right above its hinge point on the pto side. Honestly if you’re working it 5 days a week I would just go with a stihl and not have to worry. Get on marketplace and find something used.

@@joec9680 yeah I am a firm believer of buy once, cry once. But that is not always the best option. Cheaper options are sometimes better
