This movie is one of my guilty pleasure, popcorn and Pepsi favorites. I loved the flying sequences, (even if some of them were models.) Like when Scheider steathily rises into view off the bridge when the bad guys are chasing Candy Clark's character. I really dug Roy Scheider's seemingly easy going but deceptively tightly wound character. Malcom McDowell's military man who deserves his comeuppance. But my favorite actor has to be Warren Oates, who I'm of the understanding that this was his last film. What a fantastic actor, in anything I've ever seen him in. Even As a supporting role as the Deputy in "In the Heat of the Night." And one of the best villains, Anthony James. Scary dude, in whatever role.

I can’t recall how many times I’ve seen this movie and still love every minute of it but what just dawned on me that the spectator stands are at the end of the mock street the helo firing live ammunition straight at them. Doesn’t seem very safe or realistic for the demonstration of a prototype.
@generalilbis2 ай бұрын
Oh, it's definitely a horribly unsafe idea... but the demonstration's MoC repeatedly points out that Blue Thunder's gun targeting system is basically so precise it can turn an area of effect weapon like the 20mm auto-cannon into something fit for a marksman. So there's no fear of stray rounds. Which is definitely bullshit...an Apache's single-barrel chaingun might be that accurate - or close - but no Gatling-style automatic weapon I've ever heard about is that precise. Doesn't matter if the gun is mounted to some gyroscope-stabilized gimbal mount/turret or being handled by a T-800 Terminator with advanced targeting capabilities...MOA doesn't exist when you have multiple barrels on a gun or cannon.

@MegaRayland2 ай бұрын
@@luciusvorenus9445What “modifications”? Slapping an air intake, and three metallic painted plastic tubes to the bottom and the end of the landing gear structure is hardly making “modifications”. All the functional shots of guns and rocket launcher coming in or out were close ups of partial props, not a working helicopter. Blue Thunder actually received modifications and was a working helicopter. Airwolf merely had a few props attached to it for when in combat mode or civilian mode with the transformation shot on partial props.
