Beautiful towels! You are my favorite weaver to watch. I just got a used loom and am trying to set it up. I plan to enroll in the JST program.

As always. I love to see your videos. I nearly missed it as my youtube app has been refusing to play videos and clearly isnt notifying either. Cant wait to see your summer and winter. I love summer and winter although beiddrwand very similar but they swear different. But tied Beiderwand is exactly like summer and winter. Sigh. But its more of lampas and tbh in a little confused how lampas and beiderwand are different. But basically its like summer and winter and double weave had a baby. I really want to do some more with that as i really loved how my cushions came out.

So glad to find out that you posted a new video today, earlier today I was wondering how long it has been since I saw a new video of yours :D Timing :D I did get some inspiration to what I have on my loom now as I was rather bored using up some warp I miscalculated earlier, and it turned out that I had not but then it was to late... a beginners mistake + I have been learning from you and others who weave on KZbin..

Hi Andy, The newbie weaver is back with a question. You often use a tape measure with your weaving for measuring length. I'm preparing a scarf project that is 10EPI/PPI (plain weave). I get really confused about how to measure yarn under tension. For purposes of Weft, is an inch an inch regardless of being under tension? I want to make a measuring tape for the project. My thought was that my tape would have inch markings and 10 picks=1 inch under tension. Would that be correct? My Warp is good and agrees to the pattern. I appreciate any insights you can give on measuring tapes. Not able to find anything this specific on the internet. Thank you

Love your towels. I do lioke the red/blue the best for the depth of color. Thank you again for showing us your technique. I might have asked in a different video but asking : when you take your threads off your warping board, you always chain with 1 hand. does this keep them in better order? i chain with 2 hands and always seem to get tanbles.
@curmudgeon662 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, not sure I understand what you mean by chaining with one or two hands. I usually chain in small groups, only one or two inches wide, I just think this works better for me.

Quick question The latest handwoven has a pattern for nature's spun sport weight 100% wool 1656 yards per pound brown sheep company but all I have is harrisville Shetland 10-12 epi. The nature spun is set at 20 ends per inch what would you set the harrisville Shetland at? Love your videos you're awesome and thank you so much!
@curmudgeon662 жыл бұрын
Hi Hollyann I have used Harrisville Designs yarns many times, both the Highland and Shetland weight. I usually use Highland at 12 epi, but 10 will work, I also tend to use Shetland at 12 epi, but if I want a tight weave, I will kick it up to 15 or 16 epi and then beat the daylights out of it. Yes I like tight weaves, unlike Jane Stafford who likes light drapey (is that a word) loosely woven fabric. I really have never understood what “sport weight” is in yarn, but it sounds lighter than the harrisville. Of course the degree of twist in the yarn also is very important. With the nature spun I’d be inclined to try doing a small sample, and try it at the 20 they suggest, and see how it feels to you. Be willing to change your mind and after just a couple inches of weaving, cut it off (or un-weave), change reeds or re-sley your reed and try a different epi to see what you like best.

I like all towels. There was some days ago a youtube notification about the hot pad video of you, but I cant find it. Have you deleted it?
@curmudgeon662 жыл бұрын
it was a "short", it was not deleted, but I have no idea how you go back to find it. Unless maybe look at a list of all my videos by clicking on my channel name, see if it shows up there.

@@curmudgeon66 Short is the hint, I have found it. Thank you. It is a good idea to do a short, so we can see whats on the loom and you have less work.
