Thanks for sharing, and i am glad to hear that youtube doesn't control you, that you do your own thing. I am always delighted to get another of your videos, and often watch them immediately if possible. When life gets more crowded, it may take a little while longer, but i always come back to it, and search to be sure i haven't missed any. Thanks again for all you share, including your prayer shawl ministry.

That looks like it takes a lot of patience! I crochet with one hook. Much respect for your hard work there. Bless your heart.

I am always checking my subscription tab on youtube so your videos shows up whenever you post! But I know they sometimes hide it on the Home screen. Thanks for taking us along in the weaving studio!

Oh, and I saw the new software is now available, but alas, it's Windows only. I run chromebook and android.
@WthrLdy8 ай бұрын
And temptreadles is the other software I was going to have write for me. I wonder if any of them would work with m older loom?

The program Crossover can make windows projects work on other systems - at least it does for macs… there might be something similar?

I dug through my electronic pile and fired up my old surface pro. I wiped it and am loading tempoweave on it. It will be my exclusive weaving computer. Problem solved. ((Dh is a software engineer) Almost as many electronics here as yarn cones.)

I wished you lived closer. I'd pop over and help you wrestle that warp!

How wide do you make each chain? That S-hook combo seems to work great for you.

i love the shooks, i use them with my glimakra to hang 5L jugs of water on them (well they arent full like 3 L of it)
@curmudgeon668 ай бұрын
I usually have about two inches of warp in each chain

I have often thought about a loom platform that you could raise up to natural standing height to thread and sley, and to adjust the treadles - like a mechanics lift.
@lizkimber8 ай бұрын
there are a few times that lifting your loom up rather than grovelling on the floor would be great - especially when doing the treddles!
@WthrLdy8 ай бұрын
right?! push a button and the whole loom lifts up off the floor on a platform to a workable height! As much as I like adjusting those treadles, down is easy, getting up is HARD! @@lizkimber
@lizkimber8 ай бұрын
yes, but tbh depending on looms you have, being overweight and boobage is also a major hinderance.. for my spring like trhis I end up doing box splits (dont laugh) in front of the loom so i can lean in and my legs arent in the way and i can breathe
@WthrLdy8 ай бұрын
Right there with you. It still requires breath holding and a couple swear words to set those antique treadles on their chains and drop pins.@@lizkimber

So interesting! How long have you been doing this? What made you get stsrtsd??

yes, it's a pain to crawl under a loom! 😄

What is a prayer shawl?
@curmudgeon668 ай бұрын
A prayer shawl is just like any other shawl that one might make, it could be woven, as I make them, or it could be knit, or it could be crocheted. There is a group at the Catholic Church which I attend who make shawls, we then ask our priest to bless them, and we give them to parishioners who are sick or are in nursing homes. It is just a way that we give something of comfort to someone who needs a bit of love.

@@curmudgeon66 thank you. That is very sweet!!
@judi60788 ай бұрын
They are called "prayer shawls" because theoretically, the creator of the shawl(s) prays for the unknown recipient(s) during the creation of the shawl(s).
