Brilliant review! I've been looking at upgrading my microphone from the blue snowball to the yeti to give viewers a more clear sound (not that the snowball is bad or anything) and seeing that there's an option to save a little bit of money without compromising quality and still sticking with a name I can trust is great news 👍

I had a hard decision between the blue yeti and the blue yeti nano. I know the original blue yeti has a knob for gain and 2 more options for sound profiles. But the original also lacked portability which was my most important thing. The original was also out of my budget of 110 dollars.

I've owned a Blue Yeti mic for over 7 years and I always thought that it'd be the perfect mic if only it were in a smaller package. I've been thinking of getting a new mic since the mini USB port is becoming loose by the day and the size of it has always been a bother. This looks to be the perfect product ;)

If you do listen a bit better, the nano does cut out some nasal(mid-treble) frequencies which can work better for commentaries(spoken word) but isnt ideal for music. Plus the nano has a higher bit depth but youtube compresses your audio hard, so you cant really tell much except the tone. Case closed

Amazon had the Yeti Midnight Blue on sale for $89; they also had the Nano for $88. I actually went with the Nano b/c I like that it's more compact and will take up less desk space. I just use it for KZbin videos, so don't really need the extra features of the original Yeti.

Hey Jimmy! It's crazy I just stumbled on your channel and the style of our tech content is VERY similar. It's scary. I was looking into getting a voice over mic for my videos, do you think the yeti nano will be OK for voice overs? Or should I get the full sized yeti with the two other profiles? Also, are these the best mics for this kind of use or is there another you'd recommend? Thanks buddy!

I'd argue we aren't similar at all... You seem 10x more charismatic than me on camera! To answer your question, no. I don't think the extra profiles would be useful for your use case. The cardioid mode is the one most suitable for voice overs! And honestly, if later on you decide you need an even better mic, (we can all dream huh?) then there's much better, much more expensive options for future consideration! I know there are XLR mics that exceed the Yeti's in terms of performance, but I'm not an expert on those and USB mics are simple, and I'm lazy lol. Love your content, keep it up! Rooting for ya!

The moment I seen that I can thread this on to a tripod, I instantly crammed that Nano in to my amazon cart. I absolutely hate the condenser kits that came along with the extendable arms, once it gave out, my new mic dropped on the hard wood floor. The sound has never been the same on my current microphone.

The biggest issue I had with original Yeti was the mini usb port becoming loose to the point of the cable always falling out. Does the micro usb port on the Nano have this issue?

Micro USB is a more robust port, with locks on the cable. It'll still eventually get loose, but it'll last much longer than a Mini USB

Good review. I was all set to buy the original Blue Yeti and was just waiting for Friday to see if there were any deals and I happened to see a mention of a Blue Yeti Nano. Hadn't heard of it so I looked at some reviews and that's how I ended up here.
