The f-4 blue angels jet is my favorite because. I remember when I was a kid 10 years old in 1977. Went to the air show in my town pensacola florida I had lots of fun remember the pilots who fly the f-4 and I love the f-4 in the us miltary branch who fly them from William m Huber

The F4 was a great fighter, it was faster than the F18, and the A4, and made a lot more noise too. I did some dog fighting against the F4 in my little Skyhawk. I could turn far better than the Phantom and could stay inside his turn, but he could come and go from the fight at anytime he wanted to. The Phantom was second only to the F105 in speed to any other fighter in Vietnam. I miss seeing, and hearing this beautiful plane fly.

gotta love a good energy fight :-) i have sweet memories of the Skyhawk chase planes screaming in ten feet above the streetlights above me in the middle of the floating bridge in Seattle, in Blue Angel colors. A-4 was a mighty platform

as a pilot, can you imagine the 35 pound pull induced in the Blue Angel stick springs?

The Hornet would fly circles around the F-4. The newer super Hornet with variable intakes can fly alot faster. The Blues had alot of crackups with the F-4. The super Hornet is s loud jet. The F-15 broke most records.

I saw them at Pt Mugu about 1971/72. It seemed their diamond formation was solid. J79=pure power - you could feel it right down in your gut.

Nothing like the sound of those GE J-79's spooling up before being lit! I also remember the noise and power of the Blues and T'birds diamonds on afterburner take-off. It's something you just can't appreciate unless you're there in person to witness it. Thank you for your service to this great country, sir! 👍👍👍👍👍

Between about 8:00 min. and end of the clip is footage filmed at Abbotsford airport during the Abbotsford airshow... I would have been there in real life as just a tiny kid. During those F-4J Blue Angels visits. I recall my dad covering my ears as I still hadn't got use to those loud J-79s at the time. But I do remember the Blue Angels visits in their F-4J Phantoms, just as I remember the USAF Thunderbirds visiting Abbotsford B.C. in their F-4E Phantoms.😎👍

I"m very fond of the F4J. I was a crew member of the USS Independence, CV-62 from 9/74-6/78. Made 3 cruises two of which I was a blue shirt on the flight deck. They made a lot of noise but was a beautiful sight once airborne. I saw the Blue Angels at NAS Pensacola from 9/78 - 12/81. At that time they were flying A-4 Skyhawks.

This was truly a treat, I was born in 1981 and I don't know when they made the switch to the a-4 but I do remember my firsht airshow, I was maybe 4 years old and I remeber them flying the a4 but I also remember seeing an f4 do a tactical demo. Boy that f4 was a beast.

After they switched from the F-4 , I never wanted to see them perform anymore ....the Phantom was the attraction for me. To bad they couldn't recondition a few and fly the Phantoms again.

The dirty roll on takeoff was AWESOME! He started it lower than it's done today. Also, the Blues did formation landings back in the day in the F 4

You missed one helluva show. The F-4 era was the best of the 3 types ive seen. The sound and the shape of the aircraft is hard to beat. It might not have been a gracefull show but boy was it ripe with power. I never seen them use smoke after the F-4, but they might have used it on the A-4 briefly. I think it might have been used to camoflage the soot trails,. The J-79 powerplants ran very dirty at maxpower.

These phantoms were replaced by Skyhawks the 'Scooter' to save the budget for fuel due to the Oil shock in 1979. So did the Thunderbirds with 'talons'.
