I have an interesting fact about Arceus So in gen 4 at least, Arceus will change types depending on which plate it is holding even if it doesn't have the Multi-Type ability. For all intents and purposes, Multi-Type's only effect is preventing moves that affect your held item, such as knock off, trick etc, from working. The game is coded to make Arceus change forms depending on its plate regardless of its ability. So then, that means that through glitching or cheating, it's possible to have an Arceus with another ability, but still have it change type depending on its plate. And it's also possible to remove or change its plate in battle while it is transformed. And this is when it gets interesting. In Platinum, the plate gets knocked off, stolen or whatnot, but nothing else happens. Arceus is still in the type of the plate until the end of the battle. Judgement's type will change, but that's it. ...however, in Diamond and Pearl only, something crazy happens. The plate gets knocked off or stolen... and then Arceus transforms, in the middle of the battle. Like Castform would. This is an entirely unused mechanic, with an unused text, that is completely unable to be seen normally. But Arceus can actually change forms in the middle of the battle this way. I think this indicates that Arceus was first supposed to be able to do that, but then they changed it and decided to make it immune to item shenanigans instead. And of course, it was removed in Platinum because it was unused. But it's still there in Diamond and Pearl, for basically no one to ever see.

It's also worth noting that, in the Japanese Pokemon Stadium 1 (or Pokemon Stadium 0), you're able to obtain a Pikachu that knows Surf (especially important since transferring it to Yellow is the only way to play the surfing mini-game). The Surf Pikachu was added to the international Pokemon Stadium 1. However, in Japan, their Pokemon Stadium 2 didn't get Surf Pikachu, leaving it exclusive to Stadium 1. So even though Japan's Stadium 2 (and thus the international Stadium 1) seems like a straight-up superior version of Japan's Stadium 1 in every single way, Stadium 1 still has at least one thing exclusive to it (or you can just hack, of course).

Speaking of Pokémon Stadium, I have a little theory; I believe Pokémon were designed to have multiple colors, because in the Stadium games you could give your Pokémon a different color based on the nickname. These games were the first to give Pokémon their full color and were created before shiny Pokémon even existed. If you look at the Kanto starters you can see that the middle evolutions also have different colors, with the last evolution sharing their color palette with the first in line. This is al just speculation tho, I have no idea of it ever came up in an interview, but I like it nonetheless and wish this was done in more games

The minccino part also makes sense since they are semi version exclusives in BW2, where you get one of them far ealier than the other depending on version

Hey, I found a minute dialogue box that I haven't seen be talked about. In Pokemon Emerald (probably R&S, too), if you have a hacked amount of greatballs when the Devoncorp worker tries to give you them in the beginning of the game he says "You're loaded with items. You can't take this greatball"

*I saw Drifloon during the Dialga lights cutscene!!!!!!* I had no idea that was some obscure fact that needed to be pointed out. It's how I figured out I could even catch it since it doesn't always spawn hahaha It makes me so happy I saw something so random on my first playthrough as a kid :)

So they went that deep with the meow system but couldn't make the games function.

one weird Gen 1 oddity I learned recently is that in Gen 1, Pokemon can't learn 2 moves during 1 level-up unless they levelled up in the daycare. Since Vaporeon was for whatever programmed to learn both Haze and Mist at level 42 in Yellow, that means it can only learn Mist if you level it up in the daycare - if you get it to 42 normally, it will only try and learn Haze. And weirdly, Vaporeon has never been able to learn Mist since.

1) I knew about Stadium 0 and Minccino/Trubbish. 2) I randomly got a shiny Arceus from a nice person on the Y-Comm back then.

might've been a hacked in shiny. those are common to see flying around, unfortunately.

People really don’t know HOW MUCH the developers put in to S/V. The more I learn about it, the more impressive it becomes. I really don’t get how put still have room to trash it.

The Catherine song sounds like something I'd hear in Shin Megami Tensei.
