for those wondering: the show version does have the 4-lets in those 5/4 measures, but the measures are actually 4/4, with the 4-lets being a 4:3 polyrhythm on the first 3 beats

i like the use of quartuplets to make a 4:4 polyrhythm, plain quarter notes are too simplistic.

Eeeven though the version they played is actually a 4:3 polyrhythm
@Iplayquad2 жыл бұрын
Its not a 4:4 what..? Thats not a thing. You mean 4:3? 4 lets are a 4:3 tuplet ratio. Just like triplets are a 3:2 tuplet ratio..
@Pretzel35672 жыл бұрын
@@Iplayquad you can have a polyrhythm of any ratio you want, and if you look at the amount of time the 4 lets take up you would see it is actually 4:4. There are 4 4 lets in the same amount of time as 4 quarter notes, hence 4:4 polyrhythm. If they only lasted 3 quarter notes then it would be 4:3, and 4:5 if they lasted the whole 5/4 bar. The entire point of the comment was that it was a stupid notation since 4:4 is the same thing as quarter notes. If you dont believe me, just count quarter notes during the 4 lets, they are the same thing in this instance.

Big annoyance to players when arrangers put too many "f"s..."fake forte" we call it.

This makes no sense in terms of your description or metrical orthography. If the bracketed 'fourlets' (your term) are truly equally spread over three quarter notes, than the measure is actually a 4/4 measure, as there is only one additional quarter note in that bar - and not two additional quarter notes. If the 'fourlets' are actually simply quarter notes without the bracketed indication, then it is indeed a 5/4 bar. It's one, or it's the other. The same thing applies to the (supposed) 4/4 bar you notate in bar fifteen - if the bracketed 'fourlets' are truly spread evenly over three quarter notes, it is actually a 3/4 bar. If the 'fourlets' are actually simply quarter notes without the bracketed indication, then it is indeed a 4/4 bar. It's one, or it's the other.
@juneyellowsnek9 ай бұрын
Ignoring your big 'im smart' lingo for no reason, the bars in question are just a 4:3 4let in a 4/4 bar. It's just misnotated.

@@juneyellowsnek Ignoring your ignorance and fear of correct musical language, I actually wrote verbatim "... If the bracketed 'fourlets' (your term) are truly equally spread over three quarter notes, than the measure is actually a 4/4 measure...". This means the similar 4/4 bars are ALSO misnotated, and should be 3/4 bars. So it's poorly notated on multiple points. Cry me a river.
