Most of the worst Ford trucks I do rust repair on rockers have the power sliding rear glass the has drain tubes that end right above the cab corners, holesaw out the backside and re-route it out and cavity wax it after. The other source of moisture is the 3rd brake light. And what is up with the duct tape over the inner rocker holes, it needs to breathe so it can’t hold moisture. Fords equal jobs in the body shop. Keep them coming.😎

I did this on so many trucks in northern Minnesota. I've seen too many hacks. I did it the exact same way you did. Quality work right there.

I got a 10 second advert for Ford before the video started 🤣 Saying really get to know it and offering a 24hr test drive…..🤔 No thanks, I’ve got to know them enough through the thumb nail and video title 😂

I'm from Michigan and um that looks pretty rust free. Lol. I've seen these trucks so bad that the cab will sag and buckle the top and the rear doors have to stay closed because if you open them you have to jack up the cab to get it closed again. And they still ask over 9k for these with near 400000 miles .Nice work!

When you created your backer plate... did you plug weld it on to the existing body panel...... please show this detail in your next video....
@garyr70273 жыл бұрын
Good question, I was wondering the same thing. It didn't look like it, but surely he did otherwise how else would it stay on?
@laytonwilson123 жыл бұрын
Looks like rivets. Just sand the heads off when sanding the welded seam. The welded seam will have produced enough heat to also well the backer in place

This thing must be worth something to someone because this is a expensive repair, not to mention I’m sure the other side needs to be done as well!

When you compare the price of a new truck and you already know what you have, it's probably a smart thing to do.

Im curious ( I don't have any experience doing body work ) but why the belt sanding tool... I thought they made spot cutting tools? I'd be interested to know why so many are using these belt sanders

What’s the best way to prevent rust? Underbody wash during the winter? Cavity wax?

Must be older than 2014 because they are all aluminum after ‘14 if I am correct
@zippythechicken3 жыл бұрын
14's still were steel and in 2020 they are going back to steel on some of their models because they are about 40% stiffer bodies and don't flex as much... also the weight savings won't be completely lost..
