Bluefin Tuna Catch n' Cook

Catch and Cook fishing films aren't something I thought I'd ever do haha, but the first day I go down to Vlog I hooked this Tuna and it comes in bleeding like crazy. For a second I thought 'well this wont end up being a film" but I realised I want to stay true to the Vlog format and really do want to show you guys a less glamorous version of our fishing (than what you get with the Morningtide Fishing films). So I switched and even took it a step further by getting footage of cleaning and cooking the fish. We don't keep many fish, but we never let a fish go if we think it won't live and this Vlog is a perfect example of our style of Catch and Release (where we keep the injured fish that won't survive). I feel pretty lucky when I do bring a fish home and am always stoked to share the meat with friends and family.

well done Briggsy! Some people laugh at me when I tell them to treat a fish or animal respectfully when it has to die by sport or hunt. The most of native peoples have always shown great respect for their haul when hunting and fishing. Unfortunately, in our commercial world it is no longer normal for anglers to act like you. Fish don't speak or understand and even if they could, by the time you've slit it's throat or clubbed it's head then what's the point of thanking it? Make yourself feel better for taking an innocent and defenseless life?

@@Fuaarrkk I'm no expert but if you approach an animal with aggression they definitely react differently than if you approach calm and peacefully, even fish and sharks pick up on this when you're in the water with them, which it makes me think they can feel your energy towards them. Doesn't change that you're killing them for food but I'd way rather catch my own fish in a sustainable manner than buy it in a supermarket.

Two friendly tips. 1. After rinsing the tackle with water always dry it up with a soft cloth. 2. After you're done sharping a knife you MUST wash it! Metal particles stick to the edges of the knife and when cutting with it they are transfered to the meat. You just don't want to eat the metal... The editing as always is just pure excelence!! Really liked your fishing principles man and, yeah its really is a great feeling to feed your family with the fish you actually caught and to share with friends too. Fishing spots here in Qatar is way too limitted compare to Southeast Asia and Australia but i sometimes got lucky to catch some medium sized kingmac and an almost fully grown cobia, both were brought home as i like to have a taste of fresh fish especially the cobia which turns out to be one of our favorite fish meat due to its close taste and texture with lobsters. Regards to the whole family and the rest of MTF, keep on inspiring us man! Safe fishing.

When you "separate the butter" it's called clarified butter. And you can buy clarified butter in large quantities as a product called Ghee. Highly recommended. Ghee has a very high burning temperature, yet retains that lovely buttery taste. Which means you can fry hard and fast to get the Seardy flavor. Ask any Indian about Ghee. Much better than trying to separate the butter yourself. Lasts freakin ages.

Fantastic Video mate, loved that part with your family, we always shared the fish we caught with our Neighbours and Family, it was a lot of fun. Then you had all of them getting back to you and telling you how good and fresh the fish was compared to the stuff they got from the market and trying to describe the flavours....loads of fun. Now a days I do not live in the old neighbourhood any more but occasionally when I take fish back, I still share some with the old neighbours, a lot of them have left but some are still there and my house is still there.
