You can get the position of the instances better if you move them all to 0,0 before "instance on points" using (Position input -> subtract from 0,0,0 vector -> Translate instances). Then the character spacing doesn't matter at all either.

I found out by experimenting that you can use a grid to instance points and just plug in the vector of the grid to the image you're using :) great tutorial! cheers to You!

Hey cool Tutorial!! Does it also work in Blender 4.0? I tried it but since step 3.03min, after putting Map Range into the Instance on Points Slot, othing changes, as shown in the tutorial ._.

I found the problem - you need to go to Instance on Points and check the box Pick Instance. If you hover over Instance Index it will say you need to select it. Also, you can replace the Group Input & Subdivision with Grid, as Grid has a UV output and you can choose you resolution via the number of vertices.

Using the same 5 ascii characters doesn't make it ASCII ART, just ART with ASCII LETTERS. English is difficult, I agree.
