Those are amazing blue gill! Reminds me when I used to fish with my dad! Had the absolute blessing of teaching my two oldest grandchildren to fish two years ago. They were 8 and 10. Fishing off a pier in the Gulf of Mexico ! Grand daughter caught a snapper and grandson caught channel cat. So thankful to have the privilege of spending time with them and creating a memory that will last forever! Your dinner looks amazing!

My dad passed away in a work accident when I was young. The thing I most cherish is that my dad would spend time with my brother and me as much as he could. Doing the garden, playing games, working our train set or going into the mountains to get flag stone for our porch. Huston is lucky to have that same relationship with his dad.

When my son coach in baseball had a large lake behind his house and he feed his fish with a feeder. His wife was a seamstress and had a lot of wool yarn and he took hooks and made up what he called pellet hooks to imitate bait pellets. When he had cookout for the team the boys would let them fish with cane poles and his pellet hooks and they had a blast! He also used them on trout in the restricted no live bait streams!

I just found this channel. I’ve been introducing my four year old son to fishing lately, and he’s caught his fair share of bluegill and a channel cat. He’s been asking about cooking them and eating them, so our next outing, that’s exactly what we’ll be doing. From one dad to another, it makes me smile seeing father-son bonding like this.

Those fish looked yummy! If you want to try a different recipe for fried fillets, try crushing a sleeve or two of saltine crackers, salt the fillets and let them sit awhile , have two zip lock bags, one with seasoned flour (no salt) and the other with the cracker crumbs. Put the salted fillets in the flour shaking well then into an egg mix, then into the cracker crumbs, shake well and fry till golden. Drain on paper towel. They even taste good cold the next day. Got the recipe from a family in northern Minnesota that would use for their walleye fillets but it tastes good on any fillets

Daniel , I always enjoy your videos and Dejay's too . I liked the look of those cooked blue gill..............but it didn't make me hungry , lol . Reason for that was I had baked trout for dinner and supper today . I put them in the oven with garlic butter , dill , some salt and pepper and then covered them in fresh lemon slices . Had a tomato and cucumber salad over baby spinach to go alongside the trout . Yummy .

I truly enjoyed you fishing WITH Houston instead of just filming him. That’s why we have tripods so that everybody can participate in it warmed my heart that you finally joined him and both of you were fishing with two different types of bait. That’s a nice looking pond you have and you made a good point: you continue to see it in stock your pond. Most people tend to think the birds will take care of that it’s just not enough especially as there are other predators after those fish BESIDES Humans !!!! My grandfather and my dad both had a pond full of bluegill and catfish. And it was wonderful to spend the night with either one of them fishing. We always through the small ones back and sometimes it was just a catch & release regardless of size… Often dad will take three or four of us down to grandpas and between the two of them refreshed good night crawlers, which we Dug on the farm, & Then with cane poles, caught up a batch of fish for both houses. I really like your recipe and especially using the sauce over rice. I never thought of doing that before….Also, I’m going to have to look at our stand to see if they carry that garlic butter. I usually make my own but it would be nice not to have to. Our Sams used to sell it around the holidays in individual patties for fish: Salmon, Tilapia, etc..And place it on the fish just before serving and use EVO when cooking, as well as lemon slices & fresh basil! I really miss being able to find the patties and the next time they’re in the store I’m buying up enough to still have my freezer because it’s been for five years since they’ve had it at our store. I use them on many types of meat besides fish!! I started making my own lemon butter patties in a mold and even bought this silicone mold it holds 24 but it gets old spending my time making butter patties LOL I must say every time I watch your videos and you’re cooking fish I get so hungry and wish I could be dining with you! Appreciate you sharing your recipes Daniel and I appreciate you cooking for your family and even putting it on a pretty plate. You are probably a 10-rates “all around Dad” as well as Husband & Man of the Year❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
