Thanks for the lesson; I was just listening to that song today but I never could have figured it out myself. Would the solo also work for "I'll Never Shed Another Tear"/

Yes indeed! It also works for the Monroe tune "On and On"

Wrong double stop there at 0:03 Hicks plays an open D string and an open G string together there..Not a noted D with an open D...On the record anyway..Sometimes in place of the two open strings he will play a noted G on the d string and a noted D on g string double stop but not a unison...
