Thank you, I've been looking for a lesson like this, nice and slow, for awhile! Great, simple, easy instruction, broken down perfectly for someone who is new to playing melodies.

Well this is old, but it is one of my favorite tunes. The tune is French Canadian originally

65 moondoggie it is the art of playing fast and clean some players do 340 beats per , pick angle is a preference not a have to do . How you hold the pick is important but not all important what works for you might not work for me . Usually when I angle my pick it is to get the pick to slide off the string faster . I am getting sort of tired of hearing them play faster and faster you lose the melody line somewhere in there.

John there are many Yamaha guitars that you can not afford and there are many cheap ones that out do the most expensive they know how to make guitars . The name does not make the sound the way it is made makes the sound and the wood .

Although it sounds like a traditional Irish jig it was written by the wonderful Maine singer/songwriter David Mallett in 1977. Check out his version. Great lyrics too.
@murrmac10 жыл бұрын
It doesn't sound like a jig at all, Irish or otherwise, because it is a reel, not a jig. Dave Mallett did not write the tune ... the tune is French Canadian, and dates from at least the 1930s, and possibly even earlier than that. Dave Mallett wrote the song "The *Ballad* of St Anne's Reel", the melody of which is completely different, although the verses are interspersed with snatches of this reel. And yes, it is indeed a great song.

The song "The Ballad of St Anne's Reel" was written by Dave Mallett, this tune wasn't.

Flatpicking just means using a pick... as opposed to fingerpicking.

The first comment ^^!

Not exactly... It's a style of using a pick. Think about strumming vs flatpicking
