How I Translated a English Name into Chinese and Made a Name Seal for a Golden Gal

This seal was special ordered by Gini Newcomb who is an artist at her 60s who has been learning Chinese brush painting for over a year. Her Chinese name 金妮(Jin-ni) meaning "Golden Gal." What a perfect name for her! The seal is done in Yang or positive carving on a natural shaped Changhua stone.

@lindaag0 This seal is actually one the traditional styles. The seal carving art has a long history of very rich traditions. The more you learn the more freedom you have with the traditions as a Chinese saying puts it "read thousands of books and travel thousands miles". I have spent twenty years study Chinese archeaology and history, and my mission is only to continue this tradition but also develop it into the future with an open mind...

@chinesecaligraphy Is there a reason for this (the difference between what the various shapes are used for) other than the fact that it's not traditional? Well, I guess those of us who aren't Chinese but enjoy practicing Chinese brush painting aren't traditional anyway... :)
