I love the way Maresca inverts either fullback. What allowed Fernandez to push forward and for us to be so defensively solid was having Caicedo and Lavia sitting deeper. Caicedo inverting you have a true cdm covering 2 positions. Would be interesting to see Caicedo at RB defend against tricky wingers like Martenelli or Doki or Garnacho. Fernandez doesn't have the legs as an 8 as yet he is improving. Having 2 6s covering you allows you to play more as a 10, we infact played 2 10s Enzo & Palmer.

I feel like I’m always saying the same thing, but the tactical progression of this time since Enzo Maresca became head coach is really something special to watch. Especially considering how early in the season it still is. We’ve been able to set up the starting 11 certain ways depending on what we want to do or who we are playing against. So freakin stoked on this team right now, watching these younger players grow towards their potential every week is great. KTBFFH

@ just rotation and tweaks to the system once Reece was fit as ideally he plays where fofana plays as an rcb. Therefore Reece was put on the left and cucu sat out. Things have levelled out with the gusto at right 10 experiment exposing his limitations in that position and now gusto is being used sparingly. Cucu can play 3 different roles in our system, he has been exceptional since the euros and easily one of our top 5 players.

I honestly can even see Cucu work as a midfielder. We have plenty of them but in a theoretical crisis I would comfortable to consider him for the position. I reckon instead of signing Sancho permanently next season we need to try and go for a more physical style of winger. My options would be.. No.1 kvaratskhelia (super unrealistic I know) No.2 leao and No.3 Thuram. I just feel Jackson is the only guy who can hold up the ball and having one of these guys will bring others in to play adding another dimension rather than just going for one on ones as we have so many guys who like to go for the dual.
