These were such good tips that I'd never even considered. It's always nice learning something new. Just looking around your cities and stuff you can really see the crazy details and it makes everything stand out. It looks really nice. Definitely looking forward to that custom tree video also cause I've always wanted to do some but I've never known where to start with that

Loved this video - especially the use of the azalea bushes as hedges. I often use saplings as an alternative to fence posts to make my 'little' trees. The saplings won't grow with the leaves on top (unless you make the mistake of matching the sapling to the leaves!) I've grown full trees and then knocked out the bottom trunks and replaced them with fence posts too! Another thing I did in the latest scenarios was to put the flowering azalea into a pot instead of using cactus or dead bush for a stem and then put a block of flowering azalea leaves on top instead. It makes a bush about 2 blocks high with excellent movement and flowers all the way through. Azalea bushes are my newest fave! PS: Glad you are feeling better, and thank you so much for all of the inspiration that you provide that pushes me to really look at what I'm building!

In addition to using corals as lily pads and rugs, you can use them to make chicken nests! Or nests in general, but needing the water logged slab, chicken and other ground-bird nests are the best. It's the same process, but you can add an item frame and an egg before you add the coral on top. They're really cute! I do the same method with lily pads, only with a gold block / golden nugget. You can move the item around in the frame too for more variation. Looking forward to the custom tree video, I've been wanting to experiment more with custom trees, but am not sure how the best way to go about it is.

On the topic of the direction you place blocks, you can do so many different patterns with a single block. Basalt is an excellent example, my online skyblock has foundation built to limit from x to y, that leaves a lot of room to play with patterns.

I'm sure someone else probably mentioned this, but as of 1.18 you can now use shears to stop plants from growing - just right-click on the tile at the perfect height of the vine or cane that you want, all the pieces above (or below) will fall off like normal but the plant will now never grow again. String is still useful to block snowfall on certain tiles you want free of snow, but for plants you can now manually set them to whatever height you want.
@gmc99872 жыл бұрын
Works on all vines, sugar cane, and bamboo. Not sure if it works on saplings, though.

I like to use a checkerboard spruce plank and upside-down barrel pattern as a floor texture. It is just interesting enough to look nice, but without distracting too much.

You can also use structure voids instead of barrier blocks. The plants underneath won’t grow, but you’ll still be able to walk trough the block.

Nice vid. I'd be interested in seeing cards on screen to hop over to the other videos of yours that showcase the builds in more detail when you show them off in the future - e.g. if you show a detail from the docks, a card will pop out with a link to that tutorial for anyone interested in checking it out.

If you're in creative mode, structure void blocks can be used in replacement of string. You can go through them, but blocks and liquids can't. The best part is that there is no outline when you hover your cursor over it.

The things that suck *in some ways* about trapdoors is the fact that villagers don't process them as physical objects. I build my villages in a way where they aren't in sweatshop like conditions, and they always end up dead via stuck to the aesthetically pleasing trapdoor on a stair railing, fence, or balcony.

Built a quarry recently and i used slabs going down, i couldnt think of how to fence it off, was just gonna leave it open. Then i tried trap doors. It was perfect. Especially in the texture pack i was using. Looked nice and uniform with all spruce on top of stone, but also kinda janky and ricketty. I used them extensively on my Mediterranean city state.
