If you don't have fray check, you can always use clear nail polish.

That may not get hard, but it will prevent fray. We used to use that for panty hose runs back in the day. 🤭

Wow! I did not know there was zipper fixer kits. This is opening a brand new world for some of use that have broken zippers and don't want to buy a whole new one to replace it and if you go for getting it altered it going to cost you. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come

Yeah even if we see stuff in the thrift store for really cheap with a broken zipper. Now we can fix it.
@deniseoates71472 жыл бұрын
@@BlueprintDIY Right, once I found out how to fix a slider that was not working to close zipper, it open up options for what I would buy at thrift stores. You just have to clamp down on the sides but not to tight and it will then close the teeths. But now I see from using your link that Amazon sells every portion of a zipper. NOTHING CAN STOP US!

Nice job! I got into sewing a couple years before covid. I started on a t-shirt quilt project, which is still on-going, then simple things like pot holders, place mats coasters, bowl cozies. I recently made a box seat cushion (no, no videos). I wanted make it with a zipper but the zipper I bought was too long for the one side of the cushion and I didn't know how to shorten it. Now I do! I love the energy. Keep up the good work!

I have done this a different way. I’ve removed the entire zipper, and trimmed length from the top, with an easy hand overcast stitch to keep the pull from coming off. (None of the alterations showed when I reinstalled the zipper. I needed to buy nothing extra, and the factory pieces stayed the same).

Hello, I really liked the video. Thank you for posting it. The one thing I have to say tho, you were using cutting pliers so I was already wondering if you were going to break the little tip of the zipper which happened when you applied more pressure. We should use regular pliers for that

Use a clear drinking straw . Cut it open. Using a pressing cloth, press the straw flat. Check to see if it fits. Glue and sew it down. Look at how the original plastic it set in on the zipper. Hope this helps you.

Hi! I need help- ive replaced the zipper parts but the zipper is on both sides of the track since you said to leave it above where you cut. Now its basically stuck because i can bring it up but not down where i broke apart the teeth. How do i get the zipper to only the side with the bigger piece of hardware? At 6:23 you jump cut the video to this. How did you get the zipper only on the right?

Angelina, I have a rather technical strange question concerning zippers. I received a pair of winter boots knowing that my calves most likely would be wider than the boot. The boot is a military mukluk. So the top half is canvas and closed by a zipper. I don't want to cut the canvas. I want the boot to remain intact if possible as I want to make it mine! So, my question is this, is it possible to make a gusset and marry the two zippers together? I'm losing weight, so I'm hoping by the end of this winger the gusset won't be needed. Did I make any sense? I didn't know any other way to ask this besides here. Is there a better solution without cutting?
@BlueprintDIY2 жыл бұрын
You can add a gusset under the zipper, but the zipper would stay open until you don’t need the gusset anymore. I think the only way to marry two zippers would be to find the exact same zipper.
