he is one of the best bassists that I have ever seen. I mean seriously, this guy can play. You are integrating blues and funk together which is awesome.

Clap clap clap!!! **whistles loudly** Not only this guy has a fairly decent groove, his playing is really tight, but he also kicks all the crap about Blues. "Blues ain't boring" and he his damn right. Jaco, Miller and Miles, all of them have the blues as a foundation. The 1/4/5 cadence is very simple and this is why one can let the creativity and the technique grow. Nice vid, congrats !

I love your philosophy - You are so unpretentious and such a great inspiration. There are way too many people with 1/4 of your talent that have so much ego and that's so refreshing.

"Blues" is typically used to refer to the 12-bar V-IV-I progression, not the scale. You'll find the blues scale used quite extensively in jazz, soul, and gospel.

Alot of funk and jazz players incorporate blues. They all have similar progressions, sort of. You can jazz up your blues, or funk up your blues. I'm in the process of learning. Any recommendations on blues players. I like JPJ of ledzep. Rock, but he plays blues rock stuff.

@wahraoeh11 жыл бұрын
It's Blues cos they're rockin' to a standard progression of 12-bar blues (4 bars each of 1, 4 and 5). Besides, Blues is the mother of all rock n roll (jazz, funk, rock, what have ya)... all derivatives that came from those 12 bars. Funk here is the groove they used to carry the blues progression... funkified blues, basically.

I always hated hearing bassists complain about playing blues... If it's boring, that's because you're making it boring. Nothing but room to stretch out and still hold the groove and hit the changes. Even playing around with little nuances in your attack and timbre, in the way you fret and sound the note... I could easily amuse myself for hours with those things alone, without ever playing an outside note or a run.

1st of all Funk is about the playing style (slaps , pops and ghost notes in bass), and Blues is about the scale , so a comment like "hey thats Funk and not blues " is really kinda dumb "expert" comment. One can always play the blues scale in funk style
