49 years. That's how long Blues fans had to wait for their team to return to the big dance. Who would have expected the team that hit rock bottom in January to score a rematch against the Big Bad Bruins? As a Capitals fan, I am rooting for the Blues in this year's Finals. It's time for another legacy of failure to end, and I can tell you: it feels good to finally see your team hoist the Cup after a long wait, and as I have said before: the longer the wait, the sweeter it is. - The Sharks gave it a good run, but as Bob McKenzie over on TSN said last night, the Sharks "lost the war of attrition" in the series. The injuries at the very end were just too much for the Sharks to overcome. Bad enough that they lost Meier & Karlsson for Game 6, but no Pavelski in the lineup either, well that just sunk the Sharks' hopes for good. San Jose battled hard but the Blues just outworked them in the end. Could this be Joe Thornton's final shot at a Stanley Cup? He might come back again for another year....but we'll see.

Blues fans, believe it or not, my son and I are diehard Blackhawks fans living in the St. Louis area who are temporarily rooting for you and the Blues. So far, so good! The Bruins look tough, but GO BLUES! Teams win Championships. And this is no insult to the individuals on the Blues team, but I believe this year's Blues are the ultimate example of the saying, "The Whole is greater than the sum of its parts." The blues are the consummate team! The Bruins have swagger and Championship DNA. So, this will be a great series. Maybe the Blues can delve into ancient hockey history and develop a righteous indignation for how Bobby Orr and the Bruins eliminated them from their last Finals appearance 49 years ago. Good luck!

- From last place overall in January to the Stanley Cup Final in May & June....what an incredible turnaround for the Blues. Just 4 MONTHS it took to do it! :-o Only in the NHL can one team dominate the regular season, win 60+ games, and then go out 4 straight in Round 1, while another team that was at the bottom of the standings halfway through the season somehow gets it turned around & marches all the way to the Cup Final. That's been this year's playoffs in a nutshell. :-) Now as for the Cup Final....my brain says the Bruins will get it done just because they've done it before, they have the core players that have been around and gotten it done, they know what it takes to win the Cup....but how crazy and miraculous would it be if a team that was in the league cellar in January come all the way back & win their 1st Stanley Cup in the SAME season?? Not even Hollywood could write a script like that one if it happens. Anyways....Good Luck to the Boston Bruins & St. Louis Blues in the Stanley Cup Final!! :-)

Part of the Blues success this year was POISE, MENTAL TOUGHNESS like they're coach. That leads to the low key celebration. GUARANTEE that won't be the case if they win the Cup. Besides that didn't need to go nuts, the fans and city did for them. Last night was one of the GREATEST nights in STL Sports history. And they did it on their home ice. Beautiful stuff baby. Couple of blues players went to Philly to see an eagles game and at a bar a couple dudes kept yelling to play Gloria. So they brought it back to the locker room and went on their win streak.

Chris Watson at some point recently the team was at a bar or someplace and the song came on so they started singing it and maybe even karaoke sang. They all liked it so there it is. Personally I cannot stand it but if it works for them them have at it.
