Hello! I apologize for such late reply. My KZbin channel was inactive for a quite long time. Back in business now. We have more songs on this channel, Maria and me, please watch those videos as well. Cheers!

Thanks Mac for finding my text and giving me the good news about activating your channel again. I will definitely be a regular viewer. I don’t want to miss hearing you and Maria making beautiful music together. Ms.Lou

Just to add a little note to you and Maria after watching this again. I had forgotten about the whistling part. Great harmony even through that. This is one of my favorite songs to listen to and that slow blusey sound gets a lot of us on the dance floor. Thanks again. I’m here in the Deep South where the Blues is very popular. Lou

Sorry I haven't responded earlier. I've just revamped my KZbin and hope to be more consistent in the future. I have a livestream every Monday at 9pm CEST. Welcome! Regarding the question. I'm playing an acoustic guitar made by Michael Sandén of sandenguitars.com It's not a dobro, but I play slide on it and my strings are of heavier gauges on the 1st and 2nd string. Cheers!

Hi Mac, inevitable questions.... what guitar? what gauge strings?.....sounds gorgeous!
@HomesickMac8 жыл бұрын
Hi! Maria is playing a mahogany Martin and I'm on a Sanden modified SRB model with that it's deeper in the body than the standard model, as well as that the neck is a tad wider. The guitar is handmade in Sweden by master luthier Michael Sandén of Sanden Guitars (www.sandenguitars.com). His guitars are known for fabulous sustain and durability, not to mention the impeccable workmanship. Finally, the string gauge is a custom "lights" set where I've kept the 3rd to 6th strings from a D'Addarios ESP coated phosphor bronze strings, replacing the second string with a D'Addario plain 0.18 while moving the second string to be the first, and that's 0.16. I'll tell you, the sustain isn't that great because the first string is so heavy - it's actually longer and smoother with a lighter string but a bit higher action, but I've set up this guitar with a fairly low action so that it's my working horse both for fingerstyle, flatpicking and slide playing. The heavier 1st and 2nd strings are then less prone to buzzing when I'm playing the slide. The truth is also that if you use a heavy string but keep the string action low, you'll increase the sustain. You didn't ask, but the slide I'm playing is a beauty by www.diamondbottlenecks.com/Main.html these guys can really nail it.... Thanks for commenting!
