Big brother showed me this band on a camping trip when I was kid.. 20+ years later. Big bro is dead and gone, but I can see us together again when a good jam takes me back to a time when everyone was alive and well..Well shit.

Remember him through the music and let certain songs or lyrics bring you back to a memory of him that were special times together. Even silly things you did together. That's what I do. I remember my bro through stupid things we did. We were very young and his real dad let's just say wasn't very nice. My parents treated him like a son and my brother. Had his own room and celebrated holidays. My parents adopted him. Well in 1991 we were in the back of a truck that hit a telephone pole. The truck flipped over and over and threw us both about 35 feet in the air. Well I landed on my side but the back of his head hit the curb in the center of the street and he was gone. I tried to help him but I couldn't move from the waist up. Anyhow I hear a song or think of something or something happens and I know somehow he's just saying hay I'm not gone and I say I love you to my brother. Sorry to rant. Nut I love you brother rip and I will see you when it's my time. Love you Nut job RIP June 11 1991

I can't see it happening. The 90s was the last great musical era. I could name all the bands, but I'm guessing you know what I'm talking about. For those of us blessed to live through it, and appreciate it, let's give thanks.
@samviscomi146 жыл бұрын
Matthew Zarris this is a pretty ignorant comment. There are plenty of amazing bands playing today. You just must not be listening to that much music
@matthewzarris91776 жыл бұрын
@@samviscomi14 If you feel the need to insult me, back it up Sammy. The Great bands that fall under the "alternative rock" era of the 90s could put together festivals and some could play arenas (Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews to name a couple). Bands from that music era (and yeah, it was an era) are already being played on some classic rock stations. Tell me a few contemporary bands who fit that bill. What contemporary band can even produce a greatest hits album? Step up, or go get your shine box, Sammy.
@cmiddleton2296 жыл бұрын
@@samviscomi14 I take his comment to be referring to music like Imagine Dragons, 21 Pilots and bands that are not deeply talented. That isn't to say that there are not savants in the modern area, we have some great lyricists like Tyler Childers, folk artists like The Weepies, Indie Acts like Deathcab, rock acts like Disturbed that are reinventing themselves. Unfortunately, the mainstream wants to favor people who are very attractive or very pop, and the good music is repressed. That is why people who grew up in the 80's and 90's are disenfranchised. Video really did kill the radio star.
@samviscomi146 жыл бұрын
Matthew Zarris Marcus king band would be a great place to start. From there I would say check out govt mule, Gary Clarke jr, Jj grey and mofro, John scofield, Derek trucks, Tedeschi Trucks Band, the allman betts band. Also Dave matthews still tour and released a new album last summer if you didn’t know

Saw these guys last year live. Popper still sounds like that, after all these years. He's a crazy good singer, and they are an amazingly talented group of musicians. These guys were around when I was a teen, and I'm approaching 40, so that tells you something about their skills.
@cheesesteak228 жыл бұрын
LOVE these guys. Became a fan back in early '90s to their relatively mild track '100 years' and just liked more and more as I kept delving into their catalog. I've definitely seen these guys in concert more than any other band though I think they've gotten a bit too "jammy', not that there's anything wrong with that, but I'd rather hear more good songs than a 30 minute jam of one song. Still digging 'em thou for sure. Peace.

John has lost so much weight since this video. I'm very happy for him. Saw him this past Saturday in concert. It was a very fun time. Been a fan since the early 90's. Was so great to finally hear him in person. This is my favorite song of his. Pure, unadulterated blues with his amazing harmonica style. This video looks like it was before he figured out how to make the cradle that could hold the harmonica close to the mic without him having to juggle them individually. Still sounds fantastic for a live concert.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "too far". A lot of bands would bend over backward to just reach the mainstream as strong as they did in 1994. I think they were content to be where they were and kinda resistant to mainstream success, atleast that's how I interpret the song " hook". I believe one band member passed and the lead singer had some personal issues as well. But to me, just reaching the mountaintop (pun fully intended) especially with this sound in the midst of grunge rock and gangsta rap is a testament to how good they were...

I saw them about a year later on HORDE; I can't admit to ever being a fan in any real sense, but they put on an impeccably tight live show. (Though they were definitely upstaged by Barenaked Ladies, who put on a _spectacularly_ entertaining show.)
@dannysrigid2 жыл бұрын
I saw them about a dozen times on HORDE tour and with the Black Crowes. After one show in Ann Arbor's Hill Auditorium, I picked up Brenden Hill (drummer) who wanted to hit The Blind Pig (well known bar in A2), I told him it was just 2 blocks away but he still wanted to ride. I ended up taking their stage manager to the HoJo to get their belongings and hung out at the bar with the band until time to take them back to the tour bus. I had the whole band in my cab, but it was cramped so another driver split the ride with me. A night I'll never forget. They were all just cool people to hang with.
