Really thinking about getting the course, but wonder if its any different than typical videos you can look around and find out the. Does the course lean more towards “here are some examples of what to play and here are the tabs” or does it go a little further into teaching the “why” behind which scales/notes to use?

@@RussC123 The course is a succession of little blues in different keys. Corey teaches you other ways to play the chords with the triads. It's a great way to learn the fretboard (triads and seventh chords). He explains why you play here and there and he uses pentatonic to fill the rythm so there is a little explanation but you don't use modes. Hope it helps !

@@RussC123just go for it. The course is very different to the usual. Best course I’ve worked with, especially for rhythm, but also to appreciate corresponding scales you can tap into for fill licks. It really is a course that encourages creativity, all the while laying a solid foundation for 7 and 9 chords in the main

Does this work in a similar fashion as to why fully diminished chords can move up/down a minor 3rd? By omitting the root of the dominant chord you have a diminished triad... Are these ideas connected?

My question is why in the first example we ditch the root and then in the other example we keep it..? 🧐

I think the point is you can either keep the root, in which case it has to stay in the same place, or you drop it. In the first example with an E7 chord, it's easier to just drop the root and then he can move the whole shape down one fret at a time. Then end on an E triad (no 7th). The other examples are with 1,3,5 triads, not 7th chords. So he keeps the root since he's only playing 3 notes and can work out some nice fingerings to keep the root. I suppose he could have dropped the root and played the 3rd and 5th, moving them chromatically. It might not sound as cool. In both cases he's playing 3 notes, and ending on a major triad. I think the point is that they're just different options, that sound a bit different, but both are cool.
