And three months later it’s looking like it starting to happen :)…. When I started chatting online it was dial up and we would write and share our own scripts to improve the UX, and it was so uncool, we’d even meet AFK and share ideas, drinks and well…. I will always miss the early days, but this is the closest I’ve felt to getting back to those optimistic early days of the net.

I really love these research/journalistic waveform podcasts. While the main channel tends to focus more and more narrowly on a subset of tech, this is refreshing to watch. Note going forward, can we get reviews on the main channel for stuff other than phones, tablets and macs? 😅 Would love to see reviews on more obscure, experimental and emerging tech. I know you guys have dope tech but we don’t get a lot of those.

27:30 Just commenting on this as I watch the episode so I don't know if they talk about it later, but A LOT of federations (servers) from Mastodon have to federated with Threads in order to block Meta out of the Fediverse and avoid they end up monetizing it. So if anyone wants to discover Mastodon through Threads I'd say it's a horrible idea since it's probably the instance where you can access to the least amount of federations from; it would basically be 'Meta's Twitter'.
