Bluestar - Amsonia

I have two well established eastern blue stars in the flower bed of the house I bought last year. I didn’t realize they bloomed until I cut them back this spring. They are more willow like than these. Any advise on how to bring them back to the way these look?

Nice looking plants… Is gold Threadleaf the same? What color flowers will the Gold Threadleaf amsonia produce?

I said you should say when plants are edible or poisonous as I think this one may well be as it is in the dog bane family
