I put one in a Civic 2006 recently. It is very easy. No surprises. Get some plastic trim removal tools to make the job easier. The car's dash panels are very resilient. You can pop them on and off many times without causing problems - in case that is a worry. I had mine on and off a few times. I used velcro tape to fasten my GTA unit directly under the stock radio. There is ample space for the device and the wiring in that position. BTW the first unit I installed hiccuped when streaming audio via bluetooth. GTA were very quick and professional in the exchange process. The second unit worked exactly as expected - no bluetooth streaming hiccups.

Even though I could have gotten something similar off amazon I decided to go against that because of how informative this video was. I also wanted to support a small business so I took the shot and was not disappointed. I just completed this install on 9/2/21. The install went exactly as the video said except for the two screws when you take off the panel beneath the stereo were very difficult. I found that a screw driver that was about 4 or 5 inches long did the trick. Also, I have aux in my car already. This did not mess with it except for my car needs to be on CD1 to work. I was going to leave this aux out but since my aux is not working I decided to keep it. Thank you for the very informative and direct video. If it were not for those two screws I would have had this done in about an hour but it took me almost two just because of those screws. I even have one of those extenders that bend and that was not helpful. The small screwdriver is where its at.

@@Poeticbladezero Nah I just stuck with using the AUX input until i traded the car in. I've had luck with a JL audio MBT-RX marine Bluetooth adapter in other cars though. You could pop the aux plug out, tuck it back up inside the dash, connect the Bluetooth adapter to an accessory wire, and then use an RCA TO AUX adapter. This would probably be a good bit cheaper than this kit. Dont wire the adapter to be powered 24/7 though, they start to malfunction after a few months if you do.

You can get plenty for $89 for example this one: goo.gl/nAeeyr . It is a nice Pioneer unit with built in Bluetooth and USB playback, it has a price tag of $79. This one here is also a Pioneer for $72: goo.gl/36y7QN . Here is a Kenwood: goo.gl/IQjMoe . Here is a Sony: goo.gl/HtLa4b The list for inexpensive car stereos goes on. These are just my favorites for the price.
@MN12Guns8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and what about the mounting hardware to put in an aftermarket radio while moving over/keeping the HVAC controls and the vent on the left of the radio? That's an extra $40 right there. Now what about steering wheel controls will you loose those when you change out the factory deck for those aftermarket ones you mentioned? Yep, you will! Unless you buy a special kit to adapt the steering wheel controls into the aftermarket deck. That's another $60 (So, $40 for the dash mounting kit plus $60 for the steering wheel control kit, and there's $100 on top of an $80 deck just to install it properly) and all together a lot more work to install compared to this. Aftermarket decks do sound better usually, they also give you preouts for running aftermarket amps etc but again that's more work if you're going that route anyway that might be fine but if not it might be best to keep it simple and keep the factory radio. You sometimes loose other random features too when you change out the stock radio. Things like factory alarms are often tied into modern factory head units on some cars today. Bypassing this requires even more special kits and wiring work often tying into expensive aftermarket control boxes mounted in the trunk. Installing aftermarket head units in modern cars is quickly becoming irrelevant. It's already basically a dead market compared to how huge it was in the late 90s and early 2000s because of this. I'm surprised companies like Pioneer, JVC and Sony still bother making single DIN aftermarket head units. They won't be in another 10 years.
@JoshuasRecordings8 жыл бұрын
If you buy from Crutchfield mounting hardware is free! If not, I paid $30 for the dash kit and $5 for the wiring harness. The only car that comes with steering wheel controls is the EX, I personally own the LX so I couldn't care less about the steering wheel controls.
@MN12Guns8 жыл бұрын
Joshua's Recordings I have a 2010 EX-L so yeah, also last time I bought a deck and installed it was for a 1998 Ford escort ZX2 similar where the HVAC dials and defrost button are in the radio face. The place I bought the deck from gives the dash mounting hardware free with the deck only up to $20 so it covers the basic ones but it didn't cover mine. I also buy the wiring kit because I don't like to cut off factory harnesses so it's easy to back to stock. I even buy the speaker harness kits when I can. glad to hear crutchfield is still around I bought stuff from them way back in the early 2000s when I was really into car audio my car at the time had Alpine HU, dual Phoenix Gold amps (back when they were higher end made in USA, before they got sold to a Chinese parent company) one for the infinity speakers all round, the other for the subs. I of course loved the sound quality and high volume levels but now that I'm older, and factory car audio has gotten better I've gotten completely out of it. I also do not want to worry about my cars getting broken into. leaving nothing in my cars to steal means I don't have to worry no one has any reason to break into my car! still I sometimes miss the good old days when I did car audio installs for me and my friends.
