Exactly. I’ve been installing remote starts since 97. ALL remote starts shut off when the brake is pressed. When the ignition is on it takes over supplying the voltage from the key. My tundra should be able to read the key presence. They don’t want to program the work around when in remote start and hitting the start button to bypass engaging the starter. If it stayed running and you get it and hit the start button it would proceed with the start procedure engaging the starter while running. They can easily bypass this in the programming to bypass the starter output if the ignition has power. Then the remote start program would shut off when the brake gets 12 volts and the regular running program would take over. It comes down to money and programming.
@TRDJon2 жыл бұрын
So I think In the Toyota Q&A on this, the 2023 models will do exactly that. You have to press the start button again. Thanks for your input Ron!!!
@rongrey74152 жыл бұрын
@@TRDJon I Program PLCs now, which are basically the same thing as ECMs, BCMs and PCMs. Ladder logic using inputs and outputs from terminals. There is no reason they can’t upgrade the program and upload it to our existing systems other than paying out the warranty work. Again comes down to cost and it’s not a recall because it’s not a safety issue. Very disappointed with Toyota if they don’t offer something for the 2022’s.

I don't think Toyota is going to do anything about it from what I've found in other videos/threads sadly. They were talking about even removing the remote start feature from the key fob and it only being accessible through the app. Here's what I want to try when I get mine back from the dealership... if I can remote start it with any of the windows down, and if so...can I hop in through the window (less key) and put it in gear and move it. I'm HIGHLY doubting it seeing as the key is not inside the vehicle, but I want to give it a whirl.

Hi Jon, I totally agree! I live in Canada and I have a real issue with the lack of distance the fob gives in order to start. I’m talking about 20 ft away. Even when I am closer my fob is very temperamental and doesn’t work most of the time. My dealership told me they’ve had many people in for the same issue. I have to master the timing between the three clicks. That’s ridiculous. They even struggled. Do you think there is any way to bring this issue to Toyota?
