Great video with step by step instructions! I just bought a 2020 Tundra. A little secret that a lot of people don't know is that most late model Toyota cars and trucks already have remote start from the factory. Press the lock button twice and hold down on the third press. It's a little tricky getting the button press timing down. It works on my 2020 Tundra. Mine has push button start, not sure if that makes a difference or not. Thanks for the video.

Thank you so much. And yeah, our Tundra did not have that function. But, our Camry does. But, it's extremely annoying. The car shuts off as soon as you open the door. So, you yet again have to start the car. Great hearing from you. Thanks so much!
@SmokingDeWalt10 ай бұрын
I agree, it is annoying. Whether i use the toyota app or the key fob, the truck shuts off when the door is opened and only runs 10 minutes. I love my Tundra but question toyota's thinking on some of their engineering. @DadsGarageDIY

I purchased one and installed it... easy enough to do, except that it doesn't work for the early 2010 Tundra. Come to find out you need a "G" key which corresponds to the type of ignition you have. I have a "dot" key so it didn't work... it doesn't program. My bad for not reading that in the description listed on Amazon. Support was helpful and quick to get back to me and was kind enough to explain the difference. I didn't realize there was a difference until now.

Thanks for the video. Couple of questions. Once the truck has been remotely started from the outside of the truck, then i get in, do i then need to place the key into the ignition and turn to "on" position in order to drive? Have you heard of or experienced any problems with seat or steering wheel controls once installed and working? Do you happen to know the max range at which the remote starting kit works? Thanks in advance!
@DadsGarageDIY7 ай бұрын
Hi Garrett. Great questions. Yes you have to put the key in and turn it. Just to the run position though. If you go to far it will want to engage the starter. Learned the hard way a few times. I have experienced zero problems. This video is 3 years old. We still have the truck. My wife loves the remote start. It is a game changer for her. She uses it every day. Zero issues with anything since the install. I don't know the range. My guess is maybe 50'. It is certainly further than my 2024 Camry's factory setup has. Great hearing from you!

Thanks so much for the kind comments! Really appreciated. We just have the 2wd. I will get into more maintenance on the Tundra. I just read that since 2009 every Tundra was made in Texas. As far as 1/3 of Tundras being sold in Texas. Well, just before filming this I had read an article that stated that. Are either of these statements true? I don't know. It's what I read. Doesn't make what I read accurate. Both things do make sense to me. As I have seen both in several different publications. Again, doesn't make it correct. We could all be regurgitating inaccurate information over and over.
