Toyota needs to build this. It seems pretty much production ready and there is nothing like this in the market. There are plenty of off-road performance trucks. Keep it low production like the Corolla GR and the price relatively in check. ($50-$60k). It’ll sell

Toyota should definitely make this truck or at least offer the twin-turbo V6 in the TRD models and the Trailhunter. I would put in an order for my third TRD Sport as soon as I received the official word that the V6 will be an option.

Saw it in person and it was total head turner! I think Toyota is really on to something with this concept and after hearing the details from you in this video they should 100% build it! On a side note I wonder how long it is going to take before Tundra to Tacoma engine swaps will be happening. Honestly that Tundra engine looks like it was meant to be in the Tacoma.

Definitely need to build this truck. I miss the trucks of the 90's that offered a more street performance focus. Not everyone needs a jacked up 4x4 with off road capability. Reality is most owners never see off road. So why not offer what works for most people. The only real disappointment for me is the lack of a manual transmission. I could see this truck with some items dialed back to keep the cost reasonable as being very easily implemented to production model. I would place an order for one.

Great to see Toyota testing the waters on more performance based options. Little disappointed in the 31 HP on the tundra though. Funny you said the Tundras engine looks right at home in a Tacoma. That’s exactly where it should be and there should be a 500hp option in the Tundra.

Seeing them put this out as a concept with the tundra power train, should show everyone that they have tried this during the R and D of the upcoming Tacoma/Land Cruiser. I’m not sure why they are holding back from using this powertrain but it would be the best idea going forward…

maybe they expect profit will not be as high as lower trims. so the focus is on executing well with those trims first. im sure we will see an xrunner trim in the coming years. it will prob take away from tundra sales too, unless/until the tundra gets a "beefier" powertrain

It would be a good competitor to the ranger raptor! If Toyota wants to take it to the next level truck wise this is the way. They are known for off road. Use that TRD name for what it stands for. I do like the Tundra performance package that is in the worlds too

For sure make the X Runner sick ride but also offer this twin turbo V6 in the rest of the Tacoma line including the TRD Pro and Trailer hunter because not everyone wants the hybrid engine and I bet you offer this engine option for all Tacoma models it will sell and you will see the Tacoma sales skyrocket like crazy I will bet anyone right now put your money where your mouth is right now!!! Trust me more power for just not off road but also for towing and other things that the Tacoma is capable. Always been a fan of the x-runner and almost bought a 2014 in blue when they were new but was sold from under me. 😭 Only thing any of the new trucks will have people held back is price, we don’t even know what a baseline taco is going to run yet. 🤷🏻‍♂️

One of my concerns would be finding good high performance tires for a 21” wheel. The ones on it now are pretty expensive and the size of the Tacoma doesn’t seem midsize anymore. I got to see this in person at sema. Just seems so big for a performance truck. IMO
