I have 2 BourgRV 180 watt solar panels, I want to buy 2 more 180 watt solar panels, that will give me 720 watts for charging the AC200P. I will set them up when the snow is gone. I am near the 45 parallel, so the panels will be a fixed installation at 45 degrees. This is a DIY project.

As I suspected! You CAN charge off 12V PV. The voltage limitation makes sense now. I just got this and have only used AC to charge and was SO confused about the disparity in car vs. PV charging, not knowing that different settings change the input limits. 😅 Very thorough and SUPER helpful review Jason. Very nice review, thank you! I like how Bluetti keeps improving its units. I build my own solar generators and can't live without the run time/charge time battery state meters. It's nice to plug in a window AC unit and have that meter tell you how many hours and minutes the battery will last until the low voltage protection cuts off the power. Also, I enjoy watching the battery meter recalculate the remaining solar charge time after a cloud passes and the panels get full sun. Bluetti should add this feature as it is way more valuable than watching a percent meter. Keep up the excellent work!

Also, it is nice to have physical buttons for things. Thanks again for your awesomeness.

The MAX is built more for RV dwellers since it had the 30amp plug to run their shore power. I don't know many of the other differences. Luckily I haven't had issues with the display, but I totally see your point about if something goes wrong. I guess thats what the 2 year warranty is for. If something broke down the road I'd probably harvest the cells out of it and make my own battery setup.
@litnoregrets7551
@litnoregrets7551 2 жыл бұрын
Jasonoid I agree. The MAX, I think also has a slightly larger inverter, supports their mobile app, and lowers the required voltage for PV, which you found a way around. Oh, the Max also supports their new battery boxes for expanding capacity. I might get a 200P or 200max some day, but I think I am still leaning towards the EcoFlow Delta Max. If they would just use LiFePO4 or have a great sale, I would be a buyer. Thanks for the great work.

Wow, your review of the AC200P is exceptional. I have a 200MAX yet your review actually provided more useful information about it than the dedicated MAX reviews I have seen. So much of what you said is directly applicable to this later model. I especially appreciate your concise coverage of the display functions. Also, as you stated, you are the first person I have come across who has discussed how to charge these units with a single 12-volt solar panel. I can envision circumstances where this capability, however seemingly minor, might prove useful. Your straightforward, no frills analysis and presentation of your findings is refreshingly pragmatic. By the way, how feasible is the viewer's suggestion of using a 36-volt charger to provide input?

Great review 👍🏻. I’d love to see an entire video on charging Bluetti/EcoFlow units from LiFePO batteries, especially using a boost converter. A 36v converter will charge this unit in PV mode. I’ve been reluctant to use a boost converter because the pigtails on the input side aren’t adequate to handle the potential amperage on most units I’ve seen.

Nice review ... I have the AC200P; as well as the AC200! I just watched your review! And, I did learn a few things that I wasn't aware of ... like charging using just the one 12V panel. I do just want to make sure that there is one thing that you are aware of. You do know that if you tap the large circle (that shows the amount of power/the battery percentage left) ... that you can see the BMS information there, also (like a shortcut to get that information)? Right?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 жыл бұрын
These are beast power stations! There are 3 or 4 different versions of the BMS firmware on these models. My model is very vague about the battery voltage and some versions so every single cell voltage. I'm guessing they removed that information because people saw the cell voltages were slightly out of line and worried there was an issue.

thank you for this very detailed review. I like everything about this unit, though it has more features that i could easily pass on. the first being the wireless charging, i really dont see the need for it, usb charging works just fine for me. not to mention i dont have a wireless device to charge. and if for some reason a device i get has wireless only, then i would use the wireless charger that the device comes with. wireless standards are weird and all over the place. even the usb ports can be optional, as long as it has the 12v plug, i can use one that would be for a car. even your 100 watt usb connection could be done with an external brick, not that i have anything that uses a 100 watt usb either, lol. i think the gold standard idea you have makes alot of sense, and perhaps the stations that earn this can get a special icon. one more thought, but it probably will work just fine, having 500 watts of solar input, but not using 500 watts from the ac outlet, perhaps for example, running the ac fridge off your solar panels, i would think that it would continue to run that fridge with the solar connected with out any issues. perhaps sometime when you get the solar panels permanently attached to your building this might become a possible testing parameter? i would think that if the sun was out enough, it could continue to run the fridge indefinitely.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback, I should make a 'Jasonoid PPS Stamp of Approval' haha As for your 500 watt solar input scenario, the AC200p will apply a charge anytime the battery is 99% charged or less. So you could indefinitely run a fridge forever, as long as you never had a cloudy day. I don't see any issues with that happening.

I will certainly look forward to your test with the splitter. I really do hope Oukitel is paying attention to your excellent reviews and suggestions if they truly want to compete with the likes of Bluetti and not just be the cheap alternative that you can "live with." Their branding is this arena is behind and they will have to offer at least or more quality and features if they want to charge the same. Many in the market right now might not just want a beefed up power supply for a weekend by the lake - UPC or not since that alone is not "the feature" that will get them in the game. You can bet Eco and Blu will have that on the list in their next iteration. I live in Downtown LA and an earthquake is 60 years past due and I was here during the Rodney King riots. Water, power and gas will be down; hospitals, emergency services will be overwhelmed and there will be looting. And lots of power on the occasional camping trip would be nice.

Great video, really well presented, clear and comprehensive. Thanks for making it. Just a couple of newby questions, I have never used one of these before. If you have one of these unites purely for emergency back up, what is the best way to keep llpo P batteries in good shape when not in constant use? For example, should I leave it fully charged up, 100% with AC/DC off and let it sit till needed or should you allow it to drain slowly, maybe AC/DC left on? or perhaps cycle it to zero at least once a month? Lastly, is it ok to use one output to an extension brick, like you would with normal wall supply, I guess it depends on how many things you got plugged into the brick, but for low loads, is that ok, or you should use one battery output for to each device? Thanks.

Hey Mary, wiring in series is really easy and I'd recommend just watching a KZbin video on the topic: How to wire your solar panels in series. Once you get those connected (no adapters needed for a series connection) you just need to plug them into your power station. I like to use a 30 foot extension cable so my panels can be outside and my power station inside. Something like this will work great! amzn.to/3Oovjl6

You do a great job of reviewing products. Lots of pertinent information useful in making a purchase decision. I do have the AC200P but I have a question. You and other reviewers show that this unit should supply at least 1.75KWh of output. However, when I run my space heater (low setting at 835W), the AC200P shuts down at 0% battery and the Kill-A-Watt (KAW) meter shows that the sogen only put out 1.22 - 1.28KWh x 2 tests. That is a 60 - 64% efficiency rating! No where near what you and other reviewers get. Also, when I recharge that sogen from 0 - 100%, the KAW meter shows that total input was 1.81 - 1.9 kilowatts! So I am not sure what is going on here. Why am I not getting around 1.7KWh capacity on this? 40% efficiency loss seems way too much. Dead cell?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 жыл бұрын
Higher discharge rates will produce much lower efficiencies. Draining at a 100% load you'll see lower output capacity as you have noted, this is normal. The most efficient discharge rate for LiFePO4 chemistry is .2C or 20% and that's why we discharge near that level, it's a "best case scenario" type of thing. Discharge at 400 watts and you should see much higher levels.

Thanks for the quick reply. Kind of defeats the purpose of buying a sogen with a large inverter and battery if you can't expect to get anywhere near the stated capacity with the intended use of running a larger load. I just did the same test on my EB55 (700W inverter) running a space heater at 455W (.65C) and got 79% efficiency from it. May I suggest that you and other reviewers include a high C capacity test in your review. I know that these tests are long and laborious but maybe test units over 1500W inverter and Wh capacity. Again, keep up the good work.

Yes. I would buy the Max. From what I've read these AC200's and AC200p's were not originally designed to be Lifepo4. And they had/have issues. Don't know if the firmware updates squared them away. The Bluetti/Millertech EB200 and P version was designed as a Lifepo4 power stations. And Millertech sells it for the US market. They are pretty good. Great Video! I recently purchased the 200max and had a question about the parasitic draw when the AC is on. You say it's about 2% per hour, about 40w per hour. If I have one of the b230 batteries connected, is it still 2%, 40w per hour? Or because only the 200max main unit has the inverter, it would still be the roughly 40w per hour (now 1% with the battery)? I'm trying to use excess solar from my 800w panels, but leaving the ac inverter on would pretty waste all the excess solar.

As a total newbie to these, I ordered the AC200P yesterday after watching a number of other videos. YOU were the first one to state that the PV NEEDS to be over 30V. The Bluetti website really sucks as far as info on what you get AND what may be needed to make the unit work. I just want a backup, that IF needed for my home, that will run the fridge, laptop and TV. No idea if internet would still be up or not. I live in the SW where people ride motorcycles 360 days so cheap compared to Bluetti priced solar panels was what I planned to buy. So from your video 2 100W x18v connected in series should = ???? but be over that 30v PV charge minimum. Thanks for the tip that you can PV < 30v by fooling it into thinking your charging from a 12v source. Dumb question WHAT USB needs a 20 amp feed??? 5v X 20 amp = 100 watts??? Thats a lot of power through a USB cable. My tablet, heart monitor, GPS etc are all on 5V 3 amp power supplies. And that 12v battery device that put out 24v ????? WHAT??? Could have used that 50 years ago. Any idea why Bluetti hates plants?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 жыл бұрын
USB works really well on Laptops and Power stations. USBc devices have a smart chip in them so they automatically decide which power level they are rated for. The tech actually uses multiple 5v wires in parallel to charge at 20 amps. So you have a total of 4 wires X 5 amps so you get 20 amps total. Older USB connections had one 5v "rail/wire" and were limited to 5amps total.

Great review thank you. Have you done a review on the Ecoflow Max? I don’t want to have to be a rocket scientist to use these generators. I just want to be able to plug in my fridge, charge my devices, use my microwave and hook up the solar panels. Will I be able to use this?

Hey Nan, I have the ECOflow Delta MAX (2000wh model) that I am currently testing before I review it on the channel. Its a great power station with lots of solar input and output options. It also has a neat bluetooth app for phone connectivity. During testing I ran my full size fridge off the Delta MAX for a whole week straight.... but I had about 720 watts of solar plugged in and good sunny weather. The Delta MAX doesn't have LFP batteries in it so you will get less cycles if used EVERYDAY over and over. For occasional use it will work just fine (power outages and camping).This Bluetti AC200p has LFP batteries so it should last longer. You can't go wrong with either option really.

@@nans.632 For my purposes of using it everyday to power my office off solar, I would rather have the 3500 lifecycles on the AC200p. There are SO MANY different use cases and everyone is different. I haven't had issues with either of them, and I do like how the DeltaMax has a smaller footprint and weighs less!

I have just tested mine to run my small ac unit in my squaredrop camper. I ran it for 30 min, it has a very brief 2,116v draw when the ac compressor kicks on. Started it with 68% power charge on the Bluetti. After 30 min there was 56% power left in the Bluetti. With ac set to 62° in eco mode auto fan (high fan) it drew 537-583 watts. Bluetti ac200p handles it very well. However, when I shut off the ac inverter, then turned off the ac power on the Bluetti and pushed the power button I got a fault of “low battery voltage”…. This is gibberish to me, do you have advice for us why I would get this fault code?

I get some random errors sometimes. To know exactly what they mean it's best to reach out to Bluetti support. Usually they don't stick around long and the power station still functions.

Do you think the AC 200 max 2200 watt unit is a better buy?

I'll be doing a comparison of the AC200max, ac200p, and EB200p next month. The AC200max is the one that offers the most features but it is the most costly.

Glad I found your video because I have not seen anyone else test the 12V/25A output. Could you let me know how to remove the 12V/25A plug? After I inserted it, I heard a click. When I tries to remove it, it would not detach as it stayed tightly attached.

Push in the plug slightly, then pull out on the outside ring that moves. Then the plug will come out. It's easy once you get the hang of it.

@@Jasonoid Thank you very much for your fast response. I will give this a try. I have another question... Is it better for these battery generators to be completely drained before charging to 100% when brand new?
