Last night my neighborhood experienced a five hour blackout, due to a freeway accident. My Bluetti EB3A was able to keep my full size fridge running, while my Allwei 300W kept the living room lights and the stereo going for about 4 of those hours. If the blackout had lasted all night, the prospect of replacing hundred of dollars in frozen food would have become real. Thank you, Prof. Hobo for selling me on these products. It's hard to truly understand the value of these So-Gens until you're in the dark. I think I need an AC70.

Just be sure to test your Bluetti products thoroughly when you buy them. I didn't test my early run EB70 and it had the issue where it would die at 65% battery. I discovered the issue a month after the two year warranty expired because it sat on my shelf for emergency use for the entire time I owned it and they refused to cover it. I eventually paid them to fix it because that was still cheaper than buying a new unit but not super happy they made me pay for a known problem on those units.

Great review. I do want to add that there appears to be a misconception that the device prioritizes solar over grid when dual charging. In my testing, the device stops prioritizing solar once it hits 100% charge. I bought my unit so that it would trickle charge off solar during the day and then charge from the grid at night. Unfortunately, it stops charging off solar once it hits 100%. All the reviewers I have seen so far incorrectly state it prioritizes the solar while dual charging when their device isn’t fully charged. I wish Bluetti would add a PV prioritization to the AC70 and AC180 models. I believe full PV prioritization is only available on the 200, 300, 500 models.

@hobotech I recently purchased the AC70 as an upgrade to a no-name 300w Solar Generator. I've watched this video several times trying to figure out something that I really don't see in your testing/review. This could be me not understanding something. I see you turn up the voltage when doing the input/solar charging test, but never the current/amps. Thus, my confusion if panels I'm considering would work or not. One that I'm looking at is a 400w panel with Open Circuit Voltage 48.5V and Short Circuit Current 11.17A, company EENOUR. A second is a Bluetti SP350 VOC 42V and ISC 12A Lastly, GRECELL 200W panel with VOC 24v and ISC 12.5A thinking two of using two panels. So, being confused as heck that the ISC 11-12.5 are too much for the AC70 rating of 10A. Could you help an old fellow out with this? Will any or all of these work, or would there be an issue? If they'd work, which way would be the better way to go? Thanks.

To me, the solar charging priority is ideal. On UPS, I love the UPS mode but I do wish they gave you a choice to turn off the ups mode, as I have some use cases where I want to use a high wattage device, but want to protect the building’s old wiring, so let’s say I have a 950w device that I need to run for 20 min, I would like to run it from the ac70, while still plugged in to the wall, but limiting any wall current to 500w.
@jonjohns8145 Жыл бұрын
Can't you do that by selecting the slower charging modes? Set the ac70 to charge in normal or silent mode while your load is connected to it. That should do what you need.

@@jonjohns8145 it just passes through from wall outlet, bypassing the battery, until there is interruption and quickly switches to battery. So it’s not related to charging limits. I know the River 2 has more battery capacity but is more limited with the solar input (200w for the AC2A vs 110w for the River 2). Plus, as you mentioned, the bidirectional charging via the USB -C port. However, the output on that port is only 60w on the River 2 vs 100w on the AC2A. Do you think the overall capacity and USB-C bidirectional charging makes up for the solar input and the 100w USB-C output?

Thanks for the timely review. Any thoughts on why Qi chargers have disappeared on many newer offerings across multiple vendors? Seems like the flat top panels on top cry out for something like that.

This AC70 review failed to do your EMI test. Could you tell me how that turned out, since I am a HAM guy.

Are you still going to do a video of mounting the Yuma CIGS onto the roof? Thanks for today's review!

Nice to see lower priced options available from a leading brand. Until we get competent White House administration that can turn this economy around this lower pricing helps those of us paying taxes.

The app is optional but there are only some settings that can be changed via app.
