Just came across your channel. Thanks for the video. I love building tracks. Some tubers play on pre-made but for me that's half the fun. I was excited to see 1.0 come out. Like Christmas came early!

I certainly understand why they might not want to build but it's where most of the fun comes for me. It's the same reason why I play games like Transport Fever. I'm more of a railway person rather than a train person and I enjoy making it all connect together and seeing it working. I don't try to make ROL look like the real thing though like others instead I try to make the most efficient track plan for a single player as my goal on each series is to complete a whole chain. In this series it's food/ cattle. It's been a year since the last series and are enjoying getting back into it. The game has come a long way since my first series in 2021. Seems such a long time ago :-)

@@bluewizard I bought this when it first came out and although it was a hot mess, I was hooked. It played terrible. Yesterday I played the entire day and got logs hooked up in the Mesa map and had no glitches at all. I don't play MP because my friends won't play this sort of game, but it'd be fun to some day. Unless you count the tiny plants that derail you. Watch out for these and clean up before running the engine. :)

You know you can snap the track to load/unload points so that they are straight right? Near the edge of the platforms there is a spot where you can snap the track you are building like there is already a straight track there. Super helpful I think 😅

Very useful. Thank you. With all the hours I've got in this game I'm not sure how I didn't know that.

That feature was an amazing add on.

@GaryParkin a true time saver, I remember before they even had multiple maps spending an hour at each dock trying to line that spur straight lol

Several tries, did not manage to fill any water in the trailer. Hose exactly positioned, does not work. Might be interesting game but I have given up on this one.

Just recorded the episode where I deliver water. Worked fine for me. To confirm... You connected the water tower next to the sawmill at the top of the map (Mesa plains map location), filled up the water wagons and these showed as filled but once you tried to unload them at the round water container at the farm nothing happened?

@@bluewizard I started as you did in the first video, did not choose the prelayed map as I not liked the placements at the starting location. Did draw the rails to the sawmill similar to yours and placed coal and water tower at the starting location. I did choose the first selections of the availables, set them down with the cross marker targeting the middle of the rail. Seems correct as the hose sets down exactly over the water opening, fiddly placement however especially moving left and right. The train I have not moved much as the trailer tank seems empty. Not a promising start as I expect similar further issues through the game.

I have a feeling you might have placed a loco water tower. That's used to fill locos with water but can't be used to fill the water wagons. Go fly up to the lake at the top of the map and take look at the water tower there. It's right next to the sawmill. It can be manually placed if you don't want to build track up there but it'll at least help you confirm you've placed the correct one.

@@bluewizard Seems plausible. I had built "Summit River Water Tank". Examined the tower at the lake and tried one described as 'with hose'. Did not work. The lake tower has less height, can not identify this or a similar in the list. In fact my trac now ends at the lumber station, not the sawmill. Should I really extend now up to the lake?

If you're doing the cattle chain like me you will need the sawmill. I'm not near the PC to check... but from memory the food processing plant which is at the end of the chain requires coal and coal requires rails and beams. Beams are made in the sawmill. Rails are made at the iron works and need coal, lumber and iron. Iron comes from the iron mine and needs beams and lumber from the sawmill. My advice is to always presume you will need to get to an industry and when you lay tracks to somewhere, if something else is close add a switch/ set of points to the line you're making so it can be extended later on.
