4:39 hey Jonathan I don’t see any scars on the whale’s face, since it’s a juvenile so that means it didn’t hunt a giant squid ever Edit: 4:57 ok maybe a few scars here and there, so it might’ve hunted a giant squid. 5:43 ok that’s a lot of giant squid scars. Wait a minute if that’s a calf then from where did the scars come from?

How beautiful! Thank you for sharing! I keep thinking that maybe the reason the calf liked you as soon as it was woken up by the sound of the shutter, is because the click of your camera meant something sweet and playful in whale language, in comparison to the yelling of the mother... hehe

7:16 i laughed soo hard on that part, you should definitely revisit Dominica. Fun Fact, the Female Sperm Whales and their young stay in the tropics year round. The Bulls on the other hand venture in and out of colder waters from time to time.

Sperm whales are so amazing. Ok so im a huuuuge science nerd, apparently scientists have fed every recorded sperm whale sound ever into ChatGP the AI chat learning bot. They believe that sperm whales are not just making sounds to communicate, but are speaking a language. They think they have words for specific things, and even have names for themselves. If this work they hope to basically make a translator for human-sperm whale communication. They believe and are currently trying to talk to whales AND IVE NEVER NERDED OUT SO HARD IN MY LIFE

Cool as this is, all I’d think about is the possibility of a 230 decibel noise exploding my ear drums if I happened to startle the calf or mother.

@shaunspadafora79438 ай бұрын
When I think of a sperm whale that is 14 feet long, I assume it's just a baby, haha. Seriously, though, that is SO cool. I'd give my left arm to be that close to these creatures. He/She was a VERY handsome young sperm whale! Of course mom had to spoil things. You just know that mom was giving him the business. Typical mom. 😝
