The sizing of blundstones is a bit tricky… I bought one size at first, tried them on at the store and thought they fit well but after leaving the store and wearing them for a day, I realized they felt too tight around the ankles so even though the length felt right, I went back to the store and exchanged them for a bigger size. They immediately felt comfortable and didn’t feel like they needed to be broken in at all. Love them now. I’d definitely recommend to go to the store and try on at least 2-3 sizes to compare, do not just go for your usual size and buy them.

The boots are just leather shells. Comfort depends mostly on your choice of footbed and socks

I just got a pair of Blunnies for work, but never considered them for hiking. Maybe on some flatter terrain, but not in the PNW. I want to lace and fit my foot - above my ankle in the shaft of the boot.

Just got these and testing out with thick socks, when I walk I can feel my toes push against the front toe of the shoe, is this fine? I tried 1 size up and it’s too loose.

That would bother me but are those the socks you will always wear

@@sarahlongboards not necessarily, I tried thinner socks and it still brushes when I walk.. mm thinking maybe 510 is not for me? Thinking the tip of the big toe brushing against the front when I walk will bug me. How am I going to wear these for hiking and outdoor activities?

Blundstone says for perfect size you should be able to stick one finger down the boot behind your heel

Did they end up stretching a bit? I just bought some today and am wearing them around the house. Same problem as you with the rubbing on the ankle hoping they stretch a bit. Seems like some people say buy them big and some people say buy them snug and they will stretch. I have bought and returned them twice but I’m keeping them no matter what this time. The half size bigger feels like I’m swimming in them and they look big on me.

I returned them. They didn’t feel like they could possibly get more comfortable. For $200 they better feel amazing. I ordered Xtratuf fishing boots. Those look bigger around the ankle. Good luck 👍

@@sarahlongboards I just ran to the store before it closed to exchange them for a half size bigger. They started digging into my ankles really bad. I’m in Canada so after tax they were $270 I couldn’t chance it either. These feel so much better thank you for responding back so quickly.

I definitely need to invest in new socks right now I only wear ankle socks with snow boots, uggs and runners I’m thinking mid crew socks to protect my ankle but not show.

I had the rubbing/ankle problem too - owwwccchh! But it went away after a few wears. Wear socks and put some tape or band-aid over the rub spot for early wears.

I’ve got small ankles too but they were hurting even after a week. Returned them and got Blundstone 585.

Blundstones are not traditional "hiking boots". They have no internal padding -- they are just a leather shell. You have to add your own footbeds and socks to provide foot stabilisation and shock absorption. What's comfortable for you might be h*ll for the next person. It took me half a dozen footbed/sock combos before I found the perfect one. Once you hit the sweet spot you will experience comfort like never before

What footbed and socks are you using ?

@@freddys2465 Allaka High Arch Supports and JB Field Hiker GX Merino Wool Socks. SuperFeet are also great. Available on Amazon. Another tip is to spray your Blunnies inside and out every few days with 80/20 water/white vinegar. Keeps 'em smelling fresh as Day One

Redback boots are what blundstone used to be before they moved manufacturing out of Australia. Super comfortable and super durable
