Personally, I prefer the album version. It's so sweet and lovely and the sound of it fits perfectly considering it's about space. This demo is good, but a bit too uptempo for me. I do wish the album version was longer like the demo though.

I like the other full version but that sounds lik Alex with Graham helping. I wish Alex sang a couple more songs.

Fucking hell, this is one of the biggest injustices in music history! Would have been a clear stand out on parklife, and it's already an untouchable album! I would actually agree with you on the damon idea, i can't see any other reason they would spare this brillaint version
@markcastro7812 жыл бұрын
I know Alex wrote it, Alex song on the album, but it does sound like Graham!

It sounds like Alex honestly. The difference is subtle, but they are different

A more polished version is on 13 Special Edition, and titled "Far Out (Beagle 2 Remix)". That being said, I still 100% prefer this version over the album version.
@monstertangle5 жыл бұрын
i remember reading in '3862 days' that the reason this version was unused because damon felt insecure about not having a part on it. i can see where he was coming from, but its a shame they didn't use this one, it's really good.
@Rikoshiro12 жыл бұрын
Before, everytime I listen to this song, I can't quite place it if it was Damon or Graham singing. It sounded like Damon, but then I thought, no, it's Graham. Well, it sounded like a cross between Damon and Graham. Only to find out one time that it was Alex. Oh well. His original stuff's really cool. Should have been on Parklife.
@turricaned15 жыл бұрын
That was in 1997, after they'd had 2 UK number one albums and 9 UK top 10 singles. Damon's self-confidence was far more fragile in 1993 when they were tracking "Parklife", and - according to Maconie's biography - they were still struggling with the tunes that would later become smashes when Alex showed them this. At least it became a B-side eventually.

I always wish this had an extended version with this as the latter part and the official parklife one as the beginning- I krave fast and slooow both!

Well, its Alex's song. So why not. Hearing this for the first time in ages. He doesn't have a bad voice doses he? He could have been the George Harrison of Blur.
@PatrikPatrik112 жыл бұрын
very sure it's alex, I can understand the confusion but you can hear it in the chorus quite well. But in the intro it even had my ears shaped like a question mark

Haha it's got that Sunday Sunday feel to it, which is great but may not fit well into Parklife. Perhaps that's why the album version ended up a lot more acoustic.

I slightly prefer the more polished version which comes up near the top of the list when you search this song on KZbin. However, it's so so pleasing to see people think that Blur should have made this song better than the album version. I often burn cd's trying to get people into Blur and this is one of the songs I always put in because I know they'll like it. Arguably my favourite Blur song.

This is fucking cool - Blur before Stephen's knife - Ghraham being alittle too sharp... All the Parklife demos shrow a alternate Britpop reality... So threw know the grand grind of Blur minus Stephen Street. A joy.

@pinheadsen They really wouldn't have had to release it as a single. It's nowhere near that good and if they weren't foced to release This Is A Low they wouldn't be forced to release this song or any song. And people aren't as stupid as to associate Alex as a frontman. They didn't do that to Graham did they despite him singing lead vocals on 2 songs and the chorus on Tender. Esepcially when his singing isn't particularly good. Also the album version is more spacey which fits the lyrics better.
@redpaul00115 жыл бұрын
this is Alex singing for the love of god !!!
@NotOrdinaryInGames16 жыл бұрын
I read it in Blur's biography-Damon simply didn't like the fact that someone other than him was writing something. So, the song got practically killed. But, for Beagle 2 call, the new version of this was recorded, sounding almost identical.
