I'm PRETTY sure they also changed animation. Because I don't think the Gainax revolution would have fully happened without that era of trying out their new digital equipment with FLCL, The Pillows soundtrack, and the launchpad of Imaishi into redefining US-Japan collaboration through Panty and Stocking, Kill La Kill and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. For reference he cites many Western inspirations such as comic books and Drawn Together. The UK wave of Grant Morrison and Alan Moore truly changed comic books and I have hard time trying to ignore the same westernization now in Japan, to follow the previous era when USA funded TopCraft that would eventually become Studio Ghibli, moving from adapting The Flight of Dragons and Lord of the Rings to adapting Kiki's Delivery Service and Tales of Earthsea. Money is nice, but the art is nicer. What TV animation IS THERE without the early Japanese industry? Batman? NOPE. Animaniacs? NOPE. Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles? Nnnnnnnnope. Velma? That's just asian people recruited through Australia, but they aren't granted their own meme genre like manhwa or anniemay.

I adore TGE with my whole heart, its an album that means a hell of a lot to me, and I've based multiple art pieces around it and the band as a whole. Absolutely no skips on there for me, even the B-sides. On the topic of B-sides, there are some on Leisure that are total masterpieces and I think if they were included as A-sides, the album would be much stronger. I was a fan of Gorillaz before I was a fan of Blur, but Blur has had such an impact on my life that they overshadow my love for Gorillaz by miles

Even though I like the overall albums from Oasis more than Blur - it’s undeniable that Damon Albarn has surpassed everything they’ve done with his overall career. Like if you look at Blur’s best songs and the Gorillaz discography, it’s absolutely insane what a legend Damon has become. And as this video points out Damon’s impact on the industry is huge. But purely as a rock group I still think Oasis has three perfect albums that are just killer rock records (loaded with some of the best songs of all time). However one thing I appreciated about Blur more was their diversity in sound. In comparison Oasis was more of a one note band. I think they actually benefited from breaking up because there is only so much you can do with their sound. And because their discography is small it didn’t get to a point where they wore out their welcome. Blur on the other hand took major leaps in new directions. And again I think that adventurous writing style is why Albarn was able to create the Gorillaz.

I loved the video. I was a teen in the 90’s so Blur is part of the soundtrack of my life . And it’s one of my favourite bands, I own their whole discography (except their latest album, but it’s on my list) in fact, The Universal is one of my favourite songs ever. Even though Gorillaz was huge in the 2000’s I never really got into them until recently, I’ve been listening to them a lot and I’m amazed at how good they are. It made me realize the genius Damon is. He’s not just a pretty face (he was extremely good looking when he was younger, now he lost his looks but he seems like a wise man, a real musical legend) I’m not really interested in the characters’ back story, but I’m in for the music. I’ve seen Blur 3 times, and Gorillaz once, and every time I enjoy his bands as though I still was a teenager. A funny thing, yesterday I wore a Blur t-shirt at work, and MY BOSS asked me “do you like Blur?” And I said “it’s one of my favourites bands” and he asked me if I had listened to Damon’s solo work, I haven’t, so he recommended me to give it a listen. Later that day he sent me a whatsapp link to spotify for Damon’s Everyday Robots. Soon I’ll give it a listen. Sorry for the long comment but this video was really well done and I wanted to share my history with Damon Albarn. He reminds me of Mike Patton (another favourite of mine) and all his different projects. You could do a video on him also.

No don't worry, I love comments like these. It's nice to see that my videos are reaching people who actually lived through the years when Blur was at their peak of their career. Damon's been one of my favourite musicians since I found Blur so I'll definitely check out Everyday Robots and also I'll look into Mike Patton.

Man finally someone recognized how much these guys made an impact on pop music culture. Blur was awesome in the 90s and Gorillaz was everything we needed at the change of 2000. Great artists and music! Nice work on this vid ✌🏽👍🏽💯

I’m one of the Blur fans in the Us that listened to them before song no2. My brother introduced them to me and to this day they are on of my favorite bands ever. Gorillaz became a huge part of my high school years. I listened to demon days on repeat while skimming my pool and just thinking about life. An amazing album.

Damon Albarn is the most prolific artist of our time. Great video! I just also watched the Lyristoric video on the meaning of El Manana. Also a great vid to check out for any Gorillaz fans out there.
