I've heard the whole album, but I can't understand a lot of mature lyrics because I am too young and dumb. But this one is hitting me the right stuff. After all, I am like a coward puppet, putting the headphones to avoid tenement blocks crushing humming, hiding the newsfeed, hoping a few dear persons and I will survive (or at least they can do it without me). I can't stop this horror by energetic way because I'm too empty for this hard work and I know I won't stop it with my hands getting involved into the act because I am too soulless egoistic asshole (let this meaning here for the others, but there are something more) and I know it will be kind of different soon (a little bit of unsubstantiated optimism can help). In this morning Damon beat this animal and leading him into a lump in his throat. The man who quite well understand that can hit the right stuff to any lost soul. Thank you Blur, from Ukraine with love.

When the Western heads of states stops making money from wars they arrange, then peace will come. Russians and Ukrainians should not lose their relatives in the war for your comfort life.
@jennywolff2120 Жыл бұрын
Hm...I do not fully understand your point, I must say. I actually was very pleased with the energy, we got from Russia. Now everything here is super expensive. I guess we all have to pay for this. But as for every war, the killing of other human beings has to stop immediately. It is sad to see, that they are far away from starting to talk to each other and try to find a way to end it.
@Nastya2352 Жыл бұрын
NO. They don’t know about humanism and don’t deserve mentioning in world music! "Russian Strings" ultimately portrays a longing for genuine human connection, a reflection on the fragile nature of our existence, and a recognition that in the end, all we have is the present moment.

The reference to Bowie is completely lost on me. Can you elaborate please?
@rain_down_ Жыл бұрын
@@gmmgmmg There's an article with Damon where he discusses this Blur album and says that he feels that subconsciously Bowie lives on through him, and he finds himself channelling Bowie through his songs now. This is why I think the first five lines of the lyrics to this are to Bowie, mainly because of 'Where are you now', a nod to Bowie's famous 'Where are we now' single. No idea about the blue, blue, electric blue bit - I personally can't hear any similarity to Sound and Vision. I think the last track on the album, The Heights, is more Bowie. It uses the opening guitar chords to Space Oddity and Damon's vocals definitely do channel Bowie quite blatantly.
