I’d imagine the voice cracks and losing her voice would be nerves. Stepping into a band and “filling in” for Chester would have anyone shitting their pants nervous

And let's not forget this is their first concert together. Most of the bands would have made a bunch of secret shows and a lot of concerts before a live streaming like this. And she still sounds great here, imagine after 50 shows

I don't agree...I do believe a trained singer could functionally hit all the notes....but the level of fame is another battle, so I could see how "nerves" would be an issue.

Man it’s refreshing to see someone else just digging this. To have your introduction as a new singer of one of the biggest bands in the world, in a live broadcasted show, in place of one of the most iconic vocalists in modern music… takes some serious balls. I think she killed it, I loved her delivery, it has a kind of grungey vibe to it which I’m here for. Excited for this new era and will be selling a kidney to get to the London show.

I actually said this in a Reddit post, but I wanna post it here too: Total theory, don't take it too seriously. BUT... In Scientology, they also use the term "Clear" as a status for people who have "freed their mind" of what they believe is harmful effects, AKA free will. In other words, empty. Scientology is, at this point, a machine. The Emptiness Machine.

As someone in the comments already said, Linkin Park was not a Chester solo project. I was literally listening to LP all day when I was a kid, I am 27 now. When I heard that such a talent with a voice that can't really be matched left us, I was thinking there is no way they can come back from this. I was reading comments like it could be Amy Lee or Lizzy Hale and I was like nope. I thought they were done. I was wrong. This is not Chester, but who the hell is? The second she got out on stage I felt like the first time I listened to Linkin Park. The performance, the new song, Emily. Everything is still Linkin Park. It's not Chester, but it is Linkin Park. There is that spark, that energy. Mike was constantly smiling. Maybe it's not for everyone. When it comes to me, it hit the spot. But even if it didn't, I would be happy watching them continue after that traumatic experience, even if it wasn't for me.

that highest note in waiting for the end is difficult and honestly i'm impressed she went for it. feel like maybe they could've rehearsed a bit more but considering how nervous you must be doing your first show in one of the biggest bands of all time, those few hiccups are relatively negligible she's able to hold 99% of the other notes she sings and something zane lowe pointed out was that she's not like most other metal vocalists who always have their cleans and their uncleans pretty separate in their vocal register, and you can especially hear that in how well she sings crawling and numb where her melodic vocals blend seamlessly with her fry
@ArtDadDraws
@ArtDadDraws 4 ай бұрын
With her screams bottoming out, it's definitely breath management issues on her part. Which is totally understandable-it's hard to go from fry-singing to a fully supported scream if you whiff the breath timing. Emily killed it. Her clean vocals are beautiful and I'm very excited for the future of LP.

About the scientology stuff, I interpret the song to be about it. The lines could be applied to a cult. The album is also called From Zero, so it could play with the themes of people´s past and them starting clean From Zero Let you cut me open just to watch me bleed Gave up who I am for who you wanted me to be Don't know why I'm hopin' for what I won't receive Fallin' for the promise of the emptiness machine The emptiness machine Let you cut me open just to watch me bleed : In a cult, the people who are in the higher position basically cut you open. They know about your life, they know where you live, where you work and shit but when you try to get out of it, in some occasions they can ofcourse even kill you or just do bad shit to you. Gave up who I am for who you wanted me to be: Basically, they want you to be a believer in your made up shit. And when you do that, you isolate yourself from everyone and follow the rules, so you basically give yourself up to them. Don't know why I'm hopin' for what I won't receive: When you are a scientologist, you hope for the believe of human being an immortal being. But, ofcourse you never receive it in the end. Fallin' for the promise of the emptiness machine: You fall for the promise of the cult. The Emptiness Machine can easily be a metaphor for a cult. Basically a machine making people Empty from the inside just. Or overall its just a machine that is Empty. There is nothing real about the things they promise you, its just an empty machine giving you promises for something that isnt there. Not sure about the other lines, but I am sure some of them could also apply to the idea of it being about a cult. Already pulling me in, Already under my skin,And I know exactly how this ends. I am not sure, but it makes kinda sense I hope you read it, as this intepretation made me like her so far. Ofcourse if she is still in the cult why not make her career burn down immediately, but the lyrics feel like she got out of it, and thats what I believe in right now.

I had mixed feelings at first, but I liked her performance on Emptiness Machine. I think it sounded really good. Since she was involved in the creation process of the new song, it felt like it naturally suited her voice. On some of the older Linkin Park songs, I felt that something was missing in her performance, particularly soul and emotion, though other songs sounded really good. I also listened to the studio version of Emptiness Machine, and it naturally sounds like a Linkin Park song. I'm really excited for the new album because that's where she really has to perform and deliver. I believe there's a reason why the band chose her as the new lead vocalist, and I think the new album will prove that.

I wish i could swear in youtube comments still without demonetizing a video. Because she is fing killing it as far as im concerned. Idk if they looked at people covering chesters voice prior to her and realized there was maybe some over production or straight up lying about being able to sound like him. Which ive questioned on most people. Some people just actually rule though. The new vocalist doesnt have to sound like chester though at all. We came as romans was a big loss for me more than chester, but i was at a small arts college at the time and they literally cancelled class cause one girl looked at her phone and told another person and it just spread and people were crying in class. I didnt know that feeling until kyle pavone od'd.

Distorted vocals and screams are not easy. You're on the edge of cracking into head voice constantly. Also she wasn't losing her voice. I think she was being cautious. She felt something weird and didn't push it.

Im surprised people arent noticing/commenting on the fact theyve changed the key to every song to accommodate her voice. Just makes every song sound softer.

Most people don't care and some can't really notice including me. I always support a band for changing their tune for their singer. Unlike what Steve Harris did back in 90s, either find a copycat or change your tune.

Korn did say you can't escape politics Music, Art, Animation and Video Games are inherently tied to Politics and Philosophy Imagine if Nu-Metal came out when Hubbard was just a baby. WW1 would have ended much sooner as the Nu-Metal teens and young adults give the army generals the middle-finger!

@@conthemar most of these singers don't even write their song's lyrics. And even so, what you're saying is a better argument for not liking the band (if you cannot connect to their music) rather than something outisde of the art they create (like what political group she supports, what's her favourite colour or whatever it is).

As a longtime fan of her other band Dead Sara (been listening to them since 2014), this is kinda weird to me. I'm happy for the band and the fans, but to me LP with her vocals sounds weird, more like a feature, because for me her voice is Dead Sara. I'm also concerned what her joining LP means for the future of DS, because I really like that band.

With what Linking Park as a band stands for, speaks out against and is arguably its origin, they wouldn't let a dodgy person join.

Most of the screams were fine, it's female vocal fry they tend to sound way harsher than they are just because of the size of the vocal folds. There were a few times her technique faltered though but not everything was unhealthy She will improve with time. Even chester blew his voice at times.
