Actually got to see the new etap in person today. The rear derailleur with battery is absolutely massive.

Yup, and sticks waaaaay out. I imagine a number of people who race on it will have the rear mech rip off in crashes.

Seems to be a golden age of tech for road cycling. For years has been MTB tech trickling into road cycling. No longer. New carbon designs, electronic shifting, and now new gear systems and wireless shifting is evidence of road cycling leading the way in new tech.

Nice video! Once question though: I've a 2015 SLR01, with Ultegra Di2. Upgraded to Bora Ultra 50 (clincher, rim brake). Even with Garmin Vector 2 pedals and 1030, it weighs only 7.3kg. This is equipped with Red and shallower wheels, and it weighs 7.2?

Question. Hi, nice video ! The BMC Cockpit needs 2 steerer inserts. Could you tell me how you get them in? is a soft hammer sometimes necessary? many thanks for advise .... best regards Rolli B.

I hope this comes across as a legitimate question and not a critique or a pedantic assertion: At around 1:26, it looks like a decent amount of lubricant/grease is being applied to what should be a static handlebar pressure fitting. This seems illogical to me (though I completely accept ignorance). Ideally and intentionally, there will be no movement at this joining. And seemingly, something like a lubricant which might aid movement would seem to be counterproductive. It seems to me that the lubricant here would both encourage some mild walking in the direction of the pressure and some collection of dust/dirt/sand/grit/etc. The only thing I can imagine (again, not from a reference of expertise, but from a newbie guessing) is that the lubricant is added because it is hydrophobic. If that's the case, is there a high likelihood that two coated/painted surfaces will be so vulnerable to oxidation that applying a tacky substance creates an absolute benefit?

Hi Joe, No worries and glad you asked. Especially with carbon parts it can be difficult to get a good grip, they could slip. That’s why special carbon assembly lube is used, which contains abrasive particles that help with it (those particles are not going to break your parts, they are just there for friction). Hope this answers your question. Cheers

Why do you grease the inside of the bearing? The sealed portion with the ball bearings and raceways is what is carrying the crank spindle load and doing the rotating.

i feel like the campy 12 speed looks like a modified 11 speed + one cog. whereas sram actually uses different ratios. No lie, my EPS v3 shifts like an automatic gun. So fast!! There's also a dedicated campy app for it too to play with settings.

Why chainring so small in aero bike?
@tejovrishoguha
@tejovrishoguha 5 жыл бұрын
The SRAM AXS etap doesn't need a larger chainring as it has a 10 tooth sprocket in its 12 speed cassette. Which means, although the chainrings are smaller, the actual gear ratio is larger so you have an even higher gear than say a 52-11.

Hi David, That's the chain rings which come with the bike supplied by BMC. Don't forget AXS already starts at 10 and not at 11 cogs. We always provide our customers with bigger chain rings if they wish, that is usually a quick replacement. Cheers
