I think it's brilliant! The most basic colors are red, yellow, and blue, but you can also add black and white. While you cannot create white with the primary colors, you can create black. So all you need to make any color you can see are 4 colors. It's all in the eye and how you blend. I think this is a perfect tutorial for using primary colors and white.

What I would love to see you do is to use the primary colors to make pink. Pink is the hardest of colors to mix. That's because it should be called "minus green". If you use a color program, photoshop or other, where you can adjust the RGB sliders, if you take the G, or green, to zero, your image will be many shades of pink. Weirdly, it takes yellow to make pink, which makes it an imaginary color, where your brain fills in the holes with pink if you wrap a rainbow into a circle. As we know, yellow and blue make green so if you can't mix yellow and blue, and yet many shades of pink require yellow ... how do we neutralize the green?

Wouldn’t that be the color opposite of green on the color wheel?

actually, you're cheating...you have black and white tones laid first before coloring the portrait...that WILL GREATLY AFFECT the end results...having no base black/white color will make it more challenging - the results will not be the same.

Black and white aren't colors, they're values. You probably will learn this on 9th Grade.

You can’t not have white unless there is an under painting, in which case you would complain that there is a color there already.

I think your audience got it when you said the first 5 consecutive times that you will be using only the primary and that you did your portrait with black
