Aggro face decks are always really popular after a card expansion simply because they tend to be really simple to build, and of course they shit on the players who are trying to experiment with new cards and decks. Once the meta settles down there will be a "stable" of anti-aggro cards that should shove Pirate Warrior down a few tiers. I mean the thing about face decks is their consistency. A midrange deck might curve badly, a control deck might not draw into their removal fast enough, etc., but if you load your deck with 26+ cheap cards that deal face damage, you will probably always be dealing face damage.

Max Carvalho not a veteran myself but I'm pretty sure you have to pump >1000$ to have an almost full collection. not even speaking about a gold collection. but it's playable f2p with the pirate warrior archetype you seen the enemy plays, mage has the best basic cards that you get from playing the tutorial..., just don't expect wonders on the ladder from a f2p account.

Max Carvalho budget c'thun decks are also still very playable and powerful. and btw legendaries are not always the best cards. they are attained through packs with an estimated drop rate of 1 in 20 and through crafting. legendaries cost 1600 dust to craft, that is over 15 packs worth of cards to destroy to get 1 legendary. so not very worth for f2p or budget accounts

pretty sure it was the kazakas animation spell that was eating up all the time, it has a delay afterwards before spell effects trigger cus there is left over animation hang. also as you saw his hero power had a green rim, meaning he didn't have to wait for it he could technically use it despite the animation not playing yet

definitely not, they should continue making highlander cards like kazakus but reno needs to cycle into wild. the next highlander card should definitely give more consistent healing for control decks than kazakus does, but it should be an effect less powerful than reno's, but with better stats than reno's. similar to raza the chained. 5/5 for 5 is much better stat-wise than 4/6 for 6. reno is just balanced around the absurd effect of a full heal. i think it should be another choose one card, with three options that are always the same, like gain 20 health, do 6 aoe dmg, or do loatheb's effect. maybe loatheb's effect is too uninteractive, but if you think about it, going back up to full HP often has functionally the same effect against combo as loatheb. like if you're at 20 hp and you're threatening lethal, and your opponent has nothing on board, loatheb can prevent your opponent from interacting and winning through leeroy + power overwhelming + faceless manipulator. but if instead of playing loatheb you just played reno, your opponent would still lose, the only difference being that they could still cast power overwhelming (and thus "interact" with your life total), it just wouldn't be enough to win. so if loatheb is an uninteractive card, so is reno. i think kazakus is obviously much more interactive than either reno or loatheb, but kazakus alone is not enough to incentivize playing a highlander deck. once reno rotates out, there won't be any tier one highlander decks, period, unless they introduce at least one more highlander card that kind of "resets" the game against aggro the way reno does. right now the only reason to play reno is so you can stabilize against aggro at exactly the moment when they've over extended and you've developed a huge card advantage over them. they end up conceding because you still have 5 or 6 expensive cards in hand, while they've played their whole hand, since their only out was through doing enough damage with their low value cards. without this stabilization tool, there is 1) no way to capitalize on the card advantage you develop by playing a high cost curve, characteristic of a control deck; and 2) no incentive to intentionally not include two copies of each of your powerful cards, particularly removal spells. what reno does for control decks is huge, singlehandedly supporting an archetype, but it's also not healthy for it to be a permanent part of standard. so a compromise would be designing a minion that provides a similar life point stabilizing effect, only less impactful, in return for the minion having better stats. it would still have to be a lot of life points for the mana cost, or there would be no point in running a highlander deck since priest now has greater healing potion, which is 12 life points for 4 mana. reno's 30 for 6 is much higher but it's not possible to actually heal for 30, and in most games you heal for more like 15-20. so it's not like the card needs to be that powerful - people aren't playing reno priest for reno's sake right now, they're playing it for kazakus and raza the chained.

forgot to mention that reno is also a neutral minion, so like kazakus its stats are also lower for the cost than raza's, for example, because of that. not just because reno has a more powerful effect than raza (can't really compare the two anyway) but because neutral minions tend to have weaker stats to compensate for the fact that they can be played in any class, so they'll have potentially unfair interactions/combos with specific class cards, and having premium stats on top of those interactions would just be too impactful on the metagame for a single card. not to say that blizzard hasn't already made the mistake of designing cards that are too impactful on the metagame for a single card lol.
