Over the past year I have been shooting quite a lot of different projects and since I am about to receive my 6K pro I thought I would update the list.
These lenses are the ones that I find the most useful for my work as well as some that I think work very well with the bmpcc 6k in general.

Just bought the sigma 18-35 and I’m thinking of returning it for the Meike 35mm. I just love the look of it. Things seem more alive if that makes sense.

I love the look of the Meike too :). The sigma is still a very capable and versatile lens. I would still keep it but again depends on what you do for work.

Great explanation for each lens. I also use the 16-35L IS and 18-35 f/1.8 on every shoot I’ve ever done. Can’t beat the Sigma for the price, and they both hold their value quite well though I can’t imagine ever selling them! 😁

Additionally for me an 85mm 1.8 is great for interviews as B cam, mid shot to match with an A cam 35mm as well as general footage and Canon 100mm macro 2.8 IS is a sweet lens to have.

Another great video. I love prime lenses and Meike is a very attractive option if I’m using a tripod. In handheld situations I use a Core V Mount for better stability. If I had to add rails and flow focus then it will add to the weight. I will also have to have a monitor with its own battery in an outdoor shoot. It’s fine for a quick shoot but gets a bit heavy for me for a longer shoot. Cinematic quality comes at a price. If only BMPCC had built in image stabilisation.....

@@OfTwoLands Thanks. That’s interesting. Do you shoot with lens wide open (with a variable ND I guess). So, are you able to keep focus at f2 on a moving subject? With a crop factor of 1.5, 35mm is effectively a 52mm lens.

I think the Sigma is available as a cine parfocal version. That 16-35 is one of my go-to lenses for sure.

The Sigma lenses are there rehoused photo lenses, I think they aren't par focal and have the same focus breathing, and charge you 4 times the price. I did hear about the Cinematics/PCHood, they rehoused the lenses and make them par focal, and just for $1,579 al lens

Great video! I do a lot of architecture & interior work so I use the Tokina 11-20 2.8. It's super wide so it's only really good for shooting interiors or establishing shots.

Great video! The stabilization on that 70-200 looks insane. I believe someone mentioned a comparison to the Contax Zeiss lenses on one of your Meike videos. I'd love to see that. I'm going to be purchasing a bmpcc6k in the next month or two and am torn between the two sets. I like the character of both for different reasons, and I imagine the cine-mod brings the two closer in ergonomics, but deciding which to purchase has been difficult for me.

Thanks a lot !! And yes, I love the 70-200 :). I'ts hard to decide since they are quite different. It depends if you want to have the 'cinema lens' experience with follow focus and T Stops etc. Or just a nice prime with character.

I find the 17-55 f2.8 IS to be a perfect match for me 6kPro. The only downside is that it's not weatherproof. But it has a longer range than the 16-35 f4 and it's also 2.8 which increases the usability when the light fades away.

It's a great lens for sure !! I had it on my C100 MK2. And the reason I didn't keep was indeed the lack of weather sealing. The focusing ring and overall built is also inferior than the L series. Great value though.

Just came back to this. Went to the store and checked out the Pocket 6k Pro yesterday. Found it surprisingly easy to handle for the size increase over my OG BMPCC. I have a set of cine-modded Contax lenses, but was wondering what would be a good stabilized zoom for handheld. I'll definitely check out the Canon 16-35. Thanks!

Thanks for watching !! It depends what kind of work you do. Since I work outside any sort of weather sealing is a plus for me. The 6Ks are not weather sealed, they are quite open at the top. If the weather is really bad then I will use my Canon R :)

So if you read this :) Been using Canon 24-70 f4 IS on c100, and 2 years ago I switched to BMPCC 4K. I'll go for 6K pro as my main camera soon. So any thoughts on above mentioned lens compared to Canon 16-35mm? I still own the lens and thinking should I keep it or go for 16-35mm. I do need it for documentary work and my question is not related to obvious difference in focal length but the overall image quality as well as IS. It was my go to lens on c100 rocking it on every shoot for over 3-4 years. And great work btw :)

Very cool video! I definitely like your Contax Zeiss lens the best. On my BMPCC 6K, I pretty much stick with using the Zeiss Distagon 25mm f/2, which I love! With the Sigma 18-35mm, do you ever use a Black Pro-Mist filter?

Thanks !! Yeah I don't see why not. Anything EF will work :). It's more about what you need to shoot. Get the lens that suits you in terms or range, price, weight etc.

The contax Ziess would be a good sent for me I think I have a CY camera and ZCam I think the 28 would be nice maybe first for gimble work though unsure. I have the 18-35 and feel that cover me for 90% of what i'll do. Something longer such as the 70-200 f4 may be a good option. Was think sigma 50-100. May be too heavy.

The sigma 18-35 is amazing for range, so hard to beat. The sigma 50-100 is a bit heavy yes. For gimbal I love the Contax 28mm, super light. Although 28mm might not wide enough for a lot of shots.

I did have that lens actually but the lack of weather sealing was a problem. Also the focusing ring isn't the nicest, and the build quality is a bit inferior compared to the 16-35 or 24-70 for example. Great lens though :).

Indoor yes if you leave IS on, outside I can't really hear it. I always use the lens to capture outdoor content and inside I put it on a tripod anyway :).

It really depends on what you do, for docos the Canons are usually better but if you want that 'cinematic' look then the Meike and Contax will have more character :).

I finally got a 70-200 and the IS is quite loud. I compared it to my 17-55 and now Im convinced the lens is damaged. Rather than a normal lens sound it almost sounds like crackles.😰

I have Canon 24-105 F4 + Sigma 18-35 Combo. What do You think 24-105 vs 16-35 overall, except wider/narrower lenght?

I do have the 24-105 as well. I really like it, especially for stills and I actually used it a fair bit in Antarctica as well with the Pocket 6K. Very handy range and nicely built. Reason I don't use it as much on the bmpcc6k is that it does not have internal zooming and the IS isn't as smooth as the others.

All great lenses, in terms of owning them why even bother with the 16-35 or the Meike when the sigma covers the same range at F1.8 in terms of look and characteristics the sigma can be made look like any of those lenses in post.

The 16-35 is full frame and stabilised. The Meike is a cinema lens with decliked aperture and a long focus throw with standard gearings. Things that the Sigma isn't. That's why :)

Slow down and talk more clearly. Painful to decipher if one factors in an accent too. Your images are far far too clean, as we called it in Hollywood. Most DPs still shot 2K-ish images precisely for the film grain look. Chasing digital pixels does not equate to photography.

@@craigcharlestone there was nothing difficult to decipher about this video. He speaks clearly and is very easy to understand if you're not a gibbon. Furthermore, his footage is fantastic. And very few in Hollywood are still using anything close to 2k. The new Arri Alexa Minis and LF have been the benchmark in Hollywood for the past several years and they are native 4k cameras.
