It's a $1,200.00-$1,500.00 Cine Camera that shoots RAW(BRAW)!!!!!!! What do you want? Besides, the reason for an Atomos in the first place is to get a typical DSLR 85% of the way to what it is that the BMPCC 4K can already natively do 100% of the time. So this is pointless. It's like taking a Ferrari and swapping out the F136 for a KIT Engine. WHY???? The whole point of evaluation is to become more efficient by the utilization of what is primarily needed whilst stripping away that which hinders the overall performance. Why would you strap a ladder to a Jet Pack?

Becausr the hdmi port is made for monitor not record or stream, you want to get BM micro studio camera for live stream or external recording.

There are very few if any OTT that broadcast in 4k ....720 is upscaled to 1080p...and to stream in 4k will give you 4 times less veiwers live....its a cine camera they have came for that.

There are many many videos and info on the bm web saying that say this camera only outputs 1080. Many many many. Bad research. And also, if you buy a camera that can récord 12bit braw why in hell would you settle for crappy prores. Also, this is a CINEMA camera that you want to use as a streaming camera?? Well you have to settle with 1080 and these days 4k streams are going to fail more and more due to the hi demand of this service. Good luck any ways. This is a beast of a camera period.

Question: can you setup the bmpcc4k at 4KDCI and just use the monitor as a second screen and visualize at 1080? i don't want a monitor as an external recorder i just want a solution for the fixed screen of the BMPCC4K

@@samuelavila4342 Yes you can use the HDMI output as a second monitor if you just want to see the video feed and record internally. I believe this is a great option. The pocket 4k also lets you customize which UI information appear on the internal monitor and the external HDMI feed separately, so you could have, for example, focus peaking on the internal fixed monitor, but have a clean video feed with no UI on the external monitor.

Yea, mine is on the way now, bit intend to record 1080 dnx as a backup in medium and braw internally for keeps. I thought it was understood that we'd only get 1080 out. I'd prefer 4k, but it is what it is.

wow Like most big cameras out put 1080 over the sdi or hdmi this camera is not that type of camera they have make it the best camera at it price. the gh5 only dose 10 bit max raw is a different world to 12 bit raw. if you do heavy grading and cgi the blackmagic is great small run around to match to red or arri. Just get a ssd...

Why you would need a 4K out when you can record Braw and ProRes internally??? Why you "need" to take the more complicated and energy inneficient way?

We already had Atomos Ninjas from our previous set up, so it would've mitigated extra costs as well as minimised changes to our workflow.

It would also be nice for monitoring the native image, especially in certain VFX applications where focus and other technical imaging factors really need to be evaluated closely.

As camera for real time croma key with 2 frame sizes thanks to the extra resolution of 4K. But it is not possible. When you buy a 4K camera, you don't think that its hdmi output is limited to 1080.

On page 33 of the BMPCC manual (March 2020 edition) "The full size HDMI connector supports 10-bit 4:2:2 1080p HD video with support for HDR and two channels of embedded audio. Use the touchscreen menu to set a clean feed or include overlays on the output" VS "No one, no where does it tell you that the HDMI-out of the Blackmagic is limited to 1080" 1:48 of your video VS BMD website Tech Specs product page for BMPCC4K "Total Video Outputs 1 x HDMI up to 1080p60" Should have done your research more carefully and before buying your gear.

I got right now similar problem : I have Panasonic GH5 paired with Atomos Ninja V which is recording amazing 4K,60fps 10bit, 4:2:2 ProRes Raw video files but only on Atomos screen because I'm using Davinci Resolve 17 and Davinci takes only Braw codecs and no ProRes Raw codecs so its worthless for my production. ProRes Raw is a Apple codec and Braw is Black magic product and Atomos just jumped on the ban wagon with Apple to dump Black Magic with this. There is a software war between Apple, Atomos and Black Magic that nobody is talking about. I have done similar mistake. Why I do not use Adobe or another software? Because I don wan to be someone's monthly B..ch.

Convert ProRes RAW to CineDNG. Problem solved. BM supporting ProRes RAW would undermine BRAW.

Film workers are conceited as fuck. It’s an annoying as hell feature stop just trying to argue against it because you like to be argumentative and make people feel inferior. I never saw that this feature was missing while researching. They should have stated this more prominently. 4k is in the title of the camera. It should allow 4k footage. Period.

For us this was a bummer too for our three BMPCC 4K’s! There is mini XLR, and on the BM assists there is a mini SDI. Why no mini SDI or HDMI 2.0 4K output on the BMPCC4K Black Magic? Maybe this is not a solution what you guys want, but I think it does matter what recording resolution you select. It feels like 4K DCI or UHD is downscaled/compressed over 1080p, which is a big difference with (other) 1080p camera’s for our live streaming setup. Don’t know for sure! What do you use for timecode btw? And don’t forget to update the BMPCC 4K, There are some massive updates for the camera which I don’t see on your camera settings if I’m right.

maybe you can use inferno to record proxy or a 1080p backup file. lol. I do have bmpcc 4k and inferno as well, and I just end up with using shinobi, at least it's way lighter than the inferno.

My buddy let me use his bmpcc 6k and I couldn't figure out why my ninja recorded files in HD??! I didn't have a card with fast enough write speed for braw, so I wanted to record 4k 10bit 422 on Ninja V...............now I have to go back to saving up for my A7Siii. Thought I'd save some money using his 6k for my shoots....but I'm back to sony. Maybe fx3, but either way I'm returning his bmpcc 6k
