Yesss!! I definitely felt that way. I didn't really need to buy much of anything at all while I was there because I packed everything and it lasted me the whole time! Rather be safe than sorry lol

@@taznolebae yes you have to take all your piercings out at BMT and in uniform there after beside the first lobe piercing for women. Men are allowed to wear clear spacers if they have lobe piercings.

hey did you get all of your liquids through TSA? how many bags did you have them in? I'm bringing hella shampoo+conditioner+gels because I know the PX won't have it, but I have 2 quart size bags filled.

Heya! I got everything through tsa. I had two bags that I had filled with all types of stuff. I don’t think it matters how many you bring, as long as you put them in travel sized bags and I labeled them with a sharpie. Any extra I left in my civilian luggage and asked the MTI to get it when I needed it

Can I wear my hair in a braided ponytail? Also, what should I pack to sleep in?

Yes you can have your hair braided in a ponytail. If it’s a long ponytail, you’ll probably have to throw it into a bun. As for sleepwear, you’re only gonna sleep in civilian clothes maybe the first two-three nights then after that you’ll be sleeping in pt gear. I packed a large shirt and some sweats if I remember correctly. Just pack something comfy and appropriate. No short shorts or crop tops, things of that nature.

Ok so I ship out tomorrow. I’m bringing 7 sports bra and a nude bra for my blues, a pair of Nike shorts and a t-shirt to sleep in for the first few nights (I don’t mind wearing the same thing for bed.) I have 2 pens and a mechanical pencil, I’ve got 10 pairs of underwear, 3 pairs of jeans and 3 tshirts for the days we don’t have our uniforms. I’m bringing envelopes and stamps. I have a notebook and sticky notes for studying along with a highlighter. What documents did you take? I’m taking my social security card and proof of vaccination, will I need my birth certificate?

You sound like you’re pretty much set 👍🏼 I brought my birth certificate as well just in case but I don’t remember necessarily needing it. But I would take it along as a “just in case” situation. Good luck!! You got this 💪🏼👍🏼

Hello! I put it in the big pouch. If you have a file folder like I did, it definitely won’t fit in the side pockets.

Yes I was! You only have so much room in your security drawer but you can keep the extras in your civilian luggage. Whenever you run out of something you can ask your MTIs if you can grab it from your luggage since they keep it locked up in a room.

@@shadaijafoster3814 I sure did. No issues at all. Just make sure your stuff is travel size. if you have a product you really like but it's not travel size, just put it in a travel size cotainer and label it like I did

Apollo is my bf’s cat. I do have a cat though. I left Annie Oakley with my grandparents. They love her. I would say try to find a friend that can take your cat in temporarily until you can get them back. Or convince your family. I still pay for everything my cat needs. I send packages through the chewy app. Maybe if your family knows that you will financially care for the cat, they will be more willing to take her/him in temporarily
