I went back in the 90s with 10 bucks to my name lol. You can always open an account with the credit union there, no withdraw fees so might work out better for you to open a new account once you get there. Or split your direct deposits. Recommend those waiting for the ship out date get so cardio and strength training in at least a few months before heading out. You want your muscles not to ache too much during the 1st week of basics. Also forget about friends and family during your basics, time will fly by a lot faster. Just take one day at a time and concentrate on the tasks. DS yelling just noise, don't take it too personal.

Although there was a lot of younger people there when I went, the oldest guy was like 35, and there were quite a few people in their mid 20’s. If you go in the summer time you’re gonna be with a lot of high schoolers since they just graduated vs the winter months while they’re still in school.

HopeWorld! I brought one extra pair of clothes but I could’ve gotten away with just extra pairs of underwear and socks and wear the same clothes. For natural hair products I don’t know for sure but I’m pretty sure they’re gonna make you throw it away or put it away at reception ( your not going to have it ) but they have some stuff at the PX you can buy for your hair. ( your not gonna go to the PX right away either so keep that in mind)

A few people said that it’s only two or three days before you go to the px. (If you have your hair in a bun already when u arrive at basic the bun should last you until you get a chance to go to the px. With the exception on gel)I would put 3 days worth in a smaller container. I’m also natural I thought about this too but I opted to have my hair in a braided bob so I don’t have to worry about twa and putting my hair in a bun and all that.

Just some cheap ones, when you’re in reception you won’t go to the PX for maybe the first 3 days so you need something to shower in. (P.S the shower shoes you get at the PX while I’m reception are pretty cheap as well)

Unscented. They are going to dump all of your stuff out. In all honestly it’s up to their discretion if they allow you to keep something. The best is to have plain ordinary things. The goal is not to standout or smell good.
