Simply Spectacular! I love the symphony of steel. The R32s were best known for. I also love hearing the old track before the existence of continuous welded rail(CWR) crap on subways. The ding and dent pattern as well as the joint gaps as the wheels went over them is wonderful. I miss that so much here in Philly on the el. The R32s really moved back then before the governor restricting their speeds became common place screwing up their performance making them look bad in front of NTTs.

I'm glad someone recorded this ride. Unfortunately, I was too young to record one and when I finally started taking pictures, it was too late. Also, lol at that guy at 2:20 asking to move back. Also at 55:20 , what luck you had running into other railfans. At 1:13:33, one can see the old tower that was demolished. I had forgotten about that. 1:22:34 That old Ditmars Tower on the right was finally removed in mid 2017. It lasted a long time, but it hadn't been in use for many years. The tower at the station was new. Also notice the Astoria stations painted in blue.

I admit, it would be fun to ride the old trains under old service patterns. But I'd miss all of the things that we now have as a convenience (knowing when the train will come, being able to take HD pics/videos on a handheld device, listening to music that we can program easily, using the internet while we wait for the train). And aside from the tech, going between Manhattan and Brooklyn was a hassle because of the bridge construction (the reason why the N train was a Montague tunnel local line then), and the 63rd Street line was a tunnel to nowhere, and many stations were in a worse condition

First off, it's "through" or "thru," and any B-division train can use the Montague tubes. However, the connection to the Nassau line (abandoned since 2010) does not allow the 75-footers since it's part of the BMT eastern division. That does not apply to the R32, which is a 60-footer
